Starting February 29, 2024, Metro by T-Mobile introduces the online "Bring your number" (port-in) option. People no longer needs to go to the store to get scammed for keeping their phone numbers to enjoy the deep discount. You can choose a $40 plan in most cases (even though it may say a $60 plan ($65 with autopay) is required). If you buy a phone with a new number, you need to choose the $60 plan. The free phone check-out price is $65 for the OnePlus N30, Moto Stylus 5G 2023, etc.
Metro $60 per month plan that is $65 per month ($60 with auto pay), your first month is $65 (tax included). the checkout is $65

You can activate the phone before or after receiving it. If you don't activate the phone, the system will automatically activate it on day 21 after it is shipped. Metro by T-Mobile 180 days unlocking policy![metrobyt-mobile.com]
180 days after activation, your phone will be eligible to unlock! you don't need keep the service for 180 days, once your phone got activated one time, after 180 days, your phone is eligible to unlock!
Unlock eligibility requirements
The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
One hundred eighty (180) days must have passed since the device's activation date.
Metro confirmed multiple times that the deciding factor of your phones unlock date is whether it was activated before May 1st (180) or after may 1st (365), interesting to see how it plays out because people in here have the terms stating that its 180 days until unlock after may 1st.
Any other information about unlocking is fake or scam!
Do not waste your money to get third party unlocking service ! it won't work.
The MOTO Stylus 5G 2023 has *6* GB RAM, not 4gb, per the Metro website. And assuming its the same phone that shipped last time, it has eSIM support as well....

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:
The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."
Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...

i have two metro 12s that hopefully unlock in about 5 months. but i also went ahead and got two 11s from total since they will unlock in two months. 5 months from now i may sell or trade in the 11s and use 12s. only thing i'm concerned about is the battery life on the 12, but i do like that it will likely get OS updates for the next few years.
Battery life is much better on 13 and up. 15 is about the same as 14.
According to the FCC pre-paid phones should be unlocked within a year from the activation, so Metro already pushed that window to the max.
Not really. They don't require active service to unlock, yet. Interesting that they are now required to unlock Mint/Ultra Mobile phones in 60 days but they changed Metro to 365 days.
Just as another data point I activated my S23FE on 11/9/23 and was able to unlock it today. I received error codes for the past few days and even this morning when I tried to unlock it and it randomly worked around noon today.

Mint counters that by bundling a year of service with all their good phone deals. 60 days unlock window might be a part of the deal they agreed to when sold to T-Mobile.

Ultra mobile is 365 if phone is discounted if paid full price its 60 days

That's looks like their new policy since they have both the 60 days and 12 months unlock requirement separate. I thought it would be similar to Verizon/Tracfone 60 days policy.
How do you know?
They could be similar to boost mobile: require to have active service for a year.
Participating providers have agreed to unlock prepaid devices within one year of initial activation, consistent with reasonable time, payment or usage requirements.

Bought the s23fe today and on the place order screen it showed the total being $93 and some change. $49.99 plus $40 plan. After the order went through I get an email saying that I was now being charged a total of around $680. Somehow the $550 discount fell off and no one I've been able to talk to can figure it out. So now I have total charges on my credit card for over $680. Beyond frustrated right now.

looks like took port $100 discount off even GV/Verizon Numbers changes to $199 after entering. Not worth it at $199+Tax and $40 plan can get them unlocked off Ebay now for $250-$300
