Bad use case imo. These need space around them and no one could stand in front of it. Also quite loud. Radiant heaters (standup as you refer to them?) are what you want

Wow been waiting for a good deal for these, thanks. Picking up 2, also just to point out these are awesome for unthawing anything out, pipes, cars that dont start when its to cold, etc.

Hmm, it says outdoors, can I use in the garage?
Have a working CO alarm if you do.

I use the kerosene version of these to heat my three car garage in the winter (NJ) before going out to work on the car. They are VERY loud and they absolutely stink - and I use that Klean-Heat fuel that you can buy at Lowes. I can imagine that using diesel would make that much worse. I keep one of my garage doors open a few inches to let in fresh air. Even then, if the wife has to come out to get something from the fridge, I get an earful about how bad it smells. They do work amazing though, they'll take my uninsulated three car from 20 degrees to 50ish in about 15 minutes.
I'm wondering if the propane heater would avoid the stink?

I can hear my neighbor's running in his mostly closed garage with all my doors and windows closed if that gives you a reference. Big Grin

His garage faces my living room, but there's a fence, a line of heavy shrubbery and about 20-25 yards between us.

Can these be converted to natural gas? I have a natural gas line I can tag into instead of a propane tank.

Extra value that it includes the hose and regulator. I've gotten other propane devices that you had to buy them separately.

I have one like this and it's cold to the touch and you can stand in front of it no problem. 3-4 feet away of course and it keeps you warm.

I have an old Reddy Heater that works very well, when it works, off of kerosene. Too bad the company went under and now parts are tough to come by. Also, kerosene is crazy expensive. Probably still more cost efficient than electricity.

I have NG at my house too, so NG would be more convenient - it's probably just changing an orifice just like you'd do in a propane grill or home range.

think I might need this to melt snow and ice on drive way. not interested in snow blower/thrower, it only works for snow but not ice. plus I cant use those machines for anything else.

are you going to carry it around and point it at your driveway?

yes, it has a handle. the propane tank has handle too. not sure how fast it will melt snow. but it wont be like lawn mower speed. assuming 10 sq feet per min -ish. also assuming much better than shoveling snow like I have been doing.

I'd imagine one of those torches would be much more ergonomic. This is just some rando I saw on Amazon. https://a.co/d/5GCR7re
