Other emulators have nothing to worry about, the reason Nintendo went after Yuzu was 2 things.

1. First, andmost importantly, it's their current console. Of course they'd care much more about something that make piracy easy, costs them money and makes their hardware look like the joke it is.

2. Yuzu used decryption to operate, using the decryption keys & posting walkthroughs and links on their site along with the emulator was a mistake. Most emulators reverse engineer the hardware and use unencrypted roms.
3. They had a Patreon getting $30k+ a month.

The second you start making money off an emulator you risk this happening.

Not really bleemcast made money selling PS1 emulator for the Dreamcast. Sony sued them and lost. Legal precedent has already been set, YUZU devs just figured it was cheaper to make the settlement than hire a lawyer not to mention the stress it has on you.
Not sure what you're arguing. So you're saying Nintendo wasn't pissed that people were playing Zelda days before it was released and for free?

Also, did you speak to the YUZU devs yourself and they told you that?

The Sony/ bleemcast situation is different than the Nintendo/ Yuzu. You need to read up on the lawsuit.

For anyone curious, this was supposed to eventually happen anyways but the Yuzu situation got it finally rolling. Eventually the app will be removed and the source code will be posted publically as planned a couple years back.

Literally nobody but Nintendo hates emulators.

I've never seen stories of Sony or MS sueing emulators

How is this done?

There's a couple tools out there that make it as simple as downloading games off Steam. It's ridiculous how polished they are.

I don't want to get slapped by the mods, so no links. One of them has "USB helper" in the name. Both have GitHub projects. You can deduce the rest from there.

To be fair, there's never been an emulator for a current gen Microsoft or Sony console that cut into their market share like the Switch emulators have.

They've always been at least a generation or two behind.

Right now, PS4 emulators are still in the infancy stages compared to what emulation was capable on the Switch.

I know it's not as popular as switch emulation but it's worth mentioning that Bleem for the PC was a commercial emulator that existed alongside the playstation 1 it emulated.

Oh, I thought you meant you could download from Nintendo.

You're forgetting that they also paywall their own emulation solution with Nintendo Switch Online. There's even a higher tier just for playing N64 games.

It's safe to assume the likelihood of going after other emulators doesn't carry a high enough incentive, but obviously they seem to care enough to still charge for it.

Of course, Nintendo works in odd and mysterious ways.

For instance, you can still download their entire online catalog of WiiU and 3DS games directly from them for free and play them right on an emulator. Apparently, preventing people from doing this would also break legitimate downloads. The fact that this is even a decision to be had is just strange.

Where do you download directly from Nintendo for free?

Which is actually an example of Sony suing an emulator.

I'm done with Nintendo. I've been a die hard nintendo customer for 40 years and this attack of emulation is the worst. It's time we boycott Nintendo for their anti-consumer behavior.

I will never buy another nintendo game again until they stop this lawsuit bull***.

I wish Nintendo took it as a signal to make switch 2, rather than nuke Yuzu
