was $2.47 on amazon during the amazing amazon basics sales in nov '22

... was recently $6.49 over there.
Data throughput for these is over 20 times slower, at 480 mbps. OP's deal is 10,000 mbps.
The appeal of these cables is the transfer speed of 10Gbps vs the 480Mbps that are more commonly found in cables that are mainly used for charging. This is especially important for high throughput devices such as external NVME enclosures, monitors, usbc docks, etc...

Just received and tested this cable. I was able to get 700-800 MBps throughput copying files from a MacBook Air to a Samsung T7 external SSD. That is close to the 1,000 MBps maximum supported by this SSD.

I received my cables yesterday and Woot! has pulled one over on me again. I tested two of the three cables and both got the same bad results so I have little hope for the third. These cables DO work... BUT they are horrible quality and require you to unplug, replug, flip the cable (on a USB C? [seriously?]), change which end is plugged into the devices, and sometimes press hard and hold in order to register the connection.

I was using it with my Samsung S22 Ultra for DEX that has zero problems with any of the many other cables that I own for this function. No USB C cables should ever require this much effort to make them work. The beauty of the form factor is the simplicity and ease of use. I originally praised this deal as a great find. However, these cables are junk and will probably never be used or simply thrown out.

My guess is that Amazon had a large batch of potentially defective cables from a manufacturer and used Woot! to offload them since that seems to be the best use of Woot! as a service nowadays. I wouldn't have thought that I would be getting bad USB C cables but that is truly what these are. You have been warned. Steer clear!

EDIT: I contacted Woot! for a return/refund and they responded today letting me know that they were issuing a full refund and didn't see any need for me to ship the cables back. This further supports my theory that these are defective or poorly designed cables that Amazon was using Woot! to offload at such cheap prices, most people wouldn't bother trying to return them.

GeoffreyK24, exactly.

Woot has turned into Amazon's dumping ground for items owned by them which they also suspect are sketchy. Anything on woot should be considered a potential fraud knockoff or a suspect quality which they didn't want to attach to Amazon's "great" reputation.

Like I wouldn't ever by a big dollar purchase from them, no phones, no laptops, not even a Sonos 5 for $300 (for example).

No, it doesn't 'support' any such theory. It just shows that Woot is providing decent customer service, and is smart enough not to incur a return shipping charge that would be more than their 'profit' on this sale.

That makes complete sense as well. However, Woot! has turned into a dumping ground and mixed bag of products that have defects, refurbs, returns, overstock, are counterfeit, or Amazon simply can't move. Clothing is especially bad when ordering through Woot!.

All 3 of the cables I ordered are defective in the exact same ways. Of course they don't want them back. It would cost them too much to return but they are also likely offloading these just to get them out the door.
