The extra power might be beneficial if you listen at higher than normal levels.
The newer features would be more the benefit imo.
Unless you know you want Yamaha there are probably better options especially since YPAO isn't considered that great an RC to others.
Now that Dirac has come down to mid level receivers, one of them might be better choice.
It was the main reason people went with the higher end products it was offered prior to them coming down to mainstream products.
Not knowing what the issue(s) you have with the 4300.
It does have XT32 which is a very capable RC especially if you get/add the Editor App.
It gives you options that Dirac offers, it's often compared Dirac for a reason.
This also gives you the option to MultiEQ-X which gives you all the capabilities of Dirac, no need to buy a new receiver.
Also, if you haven't spent any time setting up the room or arranging the speakers properly, nothing will ever sound good.
It is not really an age related thing, but more about hobby. I had friends who listened to the setup and decided to set their own and friends who do not care at all.

Yamaha seem to be super well built with great amplification section and excellent DAC. At this price it looks very good.
Also, if you haven't spent any time setting up the room or arranging the speakers properly, nothing will ever sound good.
The main advantage to the better ones is being able to manipulate the results.
On top of that, knowing how to use it properly is another significant factor.
If you know what you're doing they are much more similar than some head and shoulders better/apart.
As you pointed out proper placement and good room environment should be addressed first, contrary to popular belief, RC does not correct this.
