VA panel. Worth 800 max

Your info is a bit outdated, not all VA monitors are made alike, this is a mini LED quantum dot panel with top of the range HDR same or better as Samsungs best QLED TV's which do look plenty good enough. I personally much prefer OLED but this has its own benefits (I have the G8 with similar tech).

Damn, if only I hadn't just got the 49" OLED less than 3 months ago...

Depends for what. It's a 35% higher pixel count vs the 49. As a programmer and Excel jockey, I'm very tempted.

Edit: 35% more area, but more than double the pixel count (225%). Higher density in the new one.
The pixel count isn't talked about enough. This is a huge upgrade from the 49".

I had a 49" LG and sold it after a couple of years because of the low pixel density. After a while, it takes a toll on your eyes if you're using it for work and constantly reading documents.

How does signing up for the EDU program work? Do I need to use my student email or can I use my normal email and then it asks me to authorize with a valid student email afterwards?

The review says it's not worth upgrading from 49 inches
I upgraded from the 49". The pixel density has been a game changer productivity wise. Use it for game dev, programming, various IT work.

If you're only gaming, it may not be worth it.

can a 4080 drive the 49 in non OLED version ?

If I remember correctly, the G9 49" has a similar pixel count to 4k/UHD, so you should look up benchmarks for the 4080 running your intended games at 4k. That will give you a good comparison of the FPS you should expect to see with the 49" on your GPU

This is $50 more expensive than the cheapest it's been, but still at a close price. Been debating on this since that deal. I feel It would've been better to take a couple of inches from the length and add an inch or 2 to the height. So, thinking of either going dual monitor for a better height and cheaper... Or wait until this hits $1k at some point.

Typing using one of these as an upgrade from a 49", there is a big difference in space for productivity use. Not really a PC gamer so can't comment there.

Yes. The 49" is basically two 1440p 240hz monitors. The 57 is basically two 4k 240hz monitors which required more bandwidth.
