as a owner of the macbook air m1 for 2 years and the macbook air m2 15" for 3 months, 8gb is more than adequate for editing photos in photoshop or editing 4k video in davinci resolve. as long as you're not doing both at the same time or editing 4k multiple timelines, 8gb is fine. yes 16gb is not worth $200 upgrade but most people don't need.

Explain why people want to pay $300 more for essentially the exact same laptop but change the 2 in M2 to M3 and you see 15% higher benchmarks that no real everyday Air user will notice because the bottleneck will be thermos due to the model being fanless and targeted at casual users.

The question is who would want to buy M3. Please explain why you are flocking to M3 rather than saving $300.

Don't care, tha machine has top tier performance, super snappy, display, sound quality, amazing trackpad and great OS.
I wouldn't buy if they make 16GB the base but + $200.

Seems like $999 for the M2 15" is the "normal price" now? Been like that since January really. Solid price for those not wanting to buy the M3 15" at MSRP of $1300.

Was going to point out that the 13" M3 MacBook Air is $999 on apple edu store but then realized this deal is for the 15" M2 Mac.
