Same seller and item from this front page deal except it's $7 less via their ebay store

Not sure what the return policy is from their website, but worth mentioning its free return shipping from their ebay store

This deal has been around for about a week now. I saw it when they first listed on eBay. I was tempting to buy but considering 35k (4yrs) of power on hours and only backed by one year of warranty I rather pay a bit more than dealing with the risk. Good luck.
Isn't 35k POH a lot?
For a consumer drive, yes. For an enterprise drive, no. Consumer drives have 1-3 year warranties, typically, due to that reason, whereas enterprise drives typically have a 10 year warranty. That said, and echoing @Ad0nis, I prefer the vendor "goharddrive" for 2 reasons: they do not have a history of wiping SMART data during refurbishment, and they include 3 or 5 year warranties on their drives. Personal experience with 6 drives from them has been stellar, including swift, no questions asked, replacement when needed.

Quote from DVD :
That's an extra 37.5% of the cost of the drive. Like the previously noted comment, that's about 8 used drives for the price of 3 new ones. Use the 5 extra used drives as a backup or almost 2 backups. Mean time between failures is 2.5 million hours or 285 years. That's a really long time and 4 years is not that much when taken in this context. Yes 12TB is a lot of data to lose but if you have them in a RAID and have another set or 2 as a backup (which you should have no matter what) then they are almost as good as new.
Your math is off. If he can get a new one for 37.5% more that doesn't translate into 8/3 or 266% more used drives. Curious how you came up with that, ChatGPT?

Got mine. Copied 4TB of data on it and it died at next boot. Loud clicking noises the entire time. Seller is asking me to send it back to them and they will test and send me a replacement if needed while I wait for all that. They say they won't cover pin damage, short circuits, etc. I would avoid this seller and these drives.

Its not the seller, its the deal with refurbs, its not economical to run a full read write drive scan on drives which would take days, they just see if the smart is ok and send it out. Its the only way they can sell these things at these prices.

When you say died, what happened?

Drive got shorted and is no longer detected?
Bad clusters
Arm not reading.

The first thing i do with any refurb drive before using, is at least a low level format.
It takes time, but you gotta map the bad clusters out and if there are too many, thats when you return it.

The first thing I do with your people is 9/11, then covid, then riots burning down your citites. Ask questions once your family is burning in hellfire.
