I'll give the deal a TU since it's a lifetime guaranteed Estwing... but, note, this is the Estwing made in India, and not USA.
The sledge with a fiberglass handle is even cheaper. FWIW I prefer a fiberglass handle.
I have absolutely no need for this.

Just ordered one.

Just did a small demo using 8lb one from HB (cinder blocks, concrete fill and rebar)
- hickory handle feels pretty good - better IMO than anything fiberglass I handled before
- 8lb is plenty for small jobs. 10 might be pushing it for some - me specifically Wink

I assume Estwing uses better materials so probably worth the extra $10 if not using for a single project

Perfect timing on this. I have a reluctant author that needs some convincing. His first manuscript had too much swearing, but the new one will be perfect. I'll make sure, I am, after all, his number one fan!

Speaking of which, does anybody have any experience with padded gloves with a sledgehammer? It seems like close to 99% of them are meant for use with power tools, but I bruised the palms of my hands pretty good a year ago, and it sucks - apparently you can get permanent nerve damage from the swelling.

To clarify - all the "impact" gloves being pushed down my throat appeared to be made to absorb high-frequency vibration in a small patch between the thumb and forefinger, but not to spread out massive shocks across the entire palm. Also, lots of rubber "armor" on the backside.

Edit: and to even further clarify, I was not in a situation where I could let gravity and momentum do the work while easing off on my grip, I was swinging horizontally with maybe 3' of clearance and had to be extremely accurate while delivering every bit of force I could.

Would this be good for a workout? Like a weighted mace for mobility swings.

Hitting a tire with a sledgehammer is a very common workout at hardcore gyms, in strongman training, and with MMA fighters. It definitely will strengthen shoulders. So will chopping wood. You can probably do the same thing with cable flies in a safer manner, but it wouldn't be as fun or cathartic.

Funny, looks like they took these off of estwing.com - wonder if they're discontinued.

I don't see any marketing about two different faces, but I'm not planning on wearing any one of them out.
Thank you. 👍

I may go for the 8 lb fiberglass model, then. If it has two different faces, great but if they are both the same, no great loss. 10 lb is likely more than I need for occasional use.

I just saw the description for this Fiskars:
https://www.amazon.com/Fiskars-75...68611?th=1
The rounded face is described as a demolition face.

My 10lb fiberglass hammer arrived (sort of) today. Box was split, no hammer inside. Fell out during shipment, lol.

Would this work for paintless dent removal?

It works well for blending existing dents with new ones to make a more uniform look.

Good catch - that's the listing I ordered the 8# for $25.99 from. I didn't actually click on the earlier link.
