Same. I know this isn't a "premium" tablet but even with the 8gb of ram it feels sluggish right out of the box. Probably going to send it back and find something else
Yes. I had the tablet and returned it for this very reason.
I paid $10 more a few days ago. The tablet is decent but hasn't wowed me (a bit sluggish and scfeen qualoty is just average) so debating whether to keep it.

Looking to get a daily driver for my kids that will last for the next 3-6 years of elementary school--so no heavy app usage, just educational stuff. Wishful thinking, maybe. I had settled on this in hopes of having an inexpensive option, but new so thought to last a while. Seeing all the comments about sluggishness worries me, but I'm not sure there's a better option. Happy to field recommendations.

Realistically, I don't need a device until June. We haven't been part of the Samsung ecosystem until now. Can we hope for another price dip before 1 July, or should I bag this up now?
I would recomend the Lincplus T3 or the iplay 50 mini Pro NFE. Both are 8GB of RAM, super clean zero bloatware Android 13, 128 GB hard drive, and best of all both are very affordable.

Google them on AMazon. Really... these are the only tablets to consider for your kids.

My 11 year old uses the Lincplus T3 and plays games like roblox, ect... and loves the tablet.

yup....

The guy even had a screen saver and a droop proof case installed and he told me he used it like a desktop and decided he wanted the Ultra.
Nice, that's great.

Thanks for the recommendation. My 7/5 boys are getting into blockbench modding for minecraft and the old 2016 ipads that they have can't keep up anymore.

Hope this works out well! do you have a good case?

That is the problem... no good drop proof cases with the Lincplus T3. I am using a foam case from a Fire HD10 from 2019. The case is still to big going side to side but it is perfect size from top to down... so I used foam tape for insulation and taped one side up and now it fits very well. I also had to cut out holes in the case for the camera and power and volume buttons.

Iplay... has a lot of cases to choose from. Perfect tablet for your kids for at least 3 years.

While I prefer the smaller size tablet my kid likes the bigger size tablet with the four speakers much more.

So the A9X chip which is in the apple 2016 ipads are good chips but the Mediatek G99 Chip is much faster when it comes to graphics. But realize that the new ipads blow the specs of the G99 to shit.... and android can not compete with apple.

I really need to upgrade my Nexus 7 one of these days but still want a 7" tablet and they seem few and far between.
I switched from n7 to tab a7 lite a while back. The a7 lite is pretty bad overall but as far as size goes it was hardly noticeable compared to the n7. 1/2" longer, 1/4" wider, 1/10" thinner. Bezels are just a lot smaller on newer devices. Really wish they would make a tab S in the 8.7" format.
