I bought this in December for this years taxes. I'm still unable to file with it because Form 8936 STILL isn't available for the software. It's the $7500 credit for purchasing an EV. Very annoying. Otherwise, it's H&R Block software

Can i use the delux+state version if i have income from a rental property?

The premium version doesn't come with the State filing?
Based on previous discussions on this topic, Deluxe + State should be able to handle your rentals.

Premium comes with State tax software. However, while Federal e-filing is free, State e-filing will attract additional cost except in New York State.

To avoid State e-filing fee, you can check with your State to see if they have free filing website. Alternatively, you can just print and mail your State returns.

It initially said it would be available by 8th March. Then it said it would be available by 15th March, and now saying it would be available 22nd March.... fingers crossed it they push it out any futher or not....
They have been pushing it back week by week since mid-February. I wouldn't hold my breath. Either paper file or use a different service. It's not the IRS since it's fine with FreeTaxUSA, TurboTax and others.

Yes deluxe handles this just fine despite the deceptive marketing. Premium includes state software but there's an extra charge with all of these for state e-file.

Be aware if you have to file Form 8606 it does not appear to attach your statement to the submitted forms. There was no option to attach either.
I contacted CS about it and they were no help. They basically said it shouldve attached or prompted you to attach but it didnt.
Now I guess I wait and see if its a big deal or not? Not sure what I should do since its my first time having to file that form.

What statement are you expecting to be attached to 8606? I don't think it needs anything.

I messed up and bought into a partnership that I thought was a stock so I'm getting k-1's. Will H&R handle those?

To those who have purchased H&R Block AND TurboTax, I have a question for you...

Is TurboTax similar to H&R Block, in that the software is downloaded via a link and can be downloaded to multiple computers?? And can the TurboTax software be installed and used without a key? H&R Block has this feature, in that the software can be downloaded to different computers and installed. The key or code only comes in to play when one actually needs to electronically file through H&R Block's servers, to the IRS.

I would like to try to Turbo Tax, to compare it to H&R Block, but would like some input as to how the install of the software is completed and the key/code for installation.
I got hr block as a cheaper alternation of TurboTax. And I regretted a lot. I ended up buying turbo tax and trashed hr block. It is truly a blocker.

1st time filing online with software, I was wondering if H&R is better than TT for W2, stock trading and homeowner. From what i have youtubed, most of videos are about TT. But seems TT isn't onsale as much as H&R? Thanks
I used TT for years. Then it got ridiculously expensive. I switched to Block a few years ago. They both do exactly the same thing. TT has a bit more user friendly interface IMO but you pay a premium price for it. I do all the financial transactions you mentioned with Block every year with no issues.

Had the same experience. I ended up using taxhawk (aka freetaxusa) and got back my refund already.

After using taxcut/hrblock for nearly 20 years I am glad I switched.
