It depends what you're doing. These are for taking off branches that are bigger than pruners/loppers can handle. If you want to chop down a tree, then you definitely want a chainsaw. I bought something like this for my small peach and plum trees and it's really the best tool for the job.

If you're looking at this thing and thinking, why would I need that? Then you probably don't need it.

I just ordered a Silky BigBoy yesterday ($85). I think I'll order this Fiskars for comparison to see just how much better the Silky is for $70 more. And to use where blade damage is possible (cuts near rocks, dirt, etc.)
These go in my dirtbiking/mtb backpack to clear trees that may have fallen across the trail.
I bought one of these a long, long time ago for about the same reason. It's definitely worth buying.

buying from target to avoid feeding the amazon beast. the fake amazon msrp is enough to make me buy from.target.
I'm not a fan of Amazon but I don't buy anything from Target anymore.

I've had some breakage (a large pole saw), but their customer service replaced it with just a couple of photos of the damage.

I have 2 axes, a pole saw, and some extendable-handle loppers. All very good.
I've used the loppers to cut some hard maple saplings that were big enough that I really should have got out the chainsaw. The loppers really should have broken from the force I used. They survived and still work great.

Received the saw today along with the hedge shears Target also had on sale. I didn't realize that the saw has two locking positions. Could come in handy. Blade seems very sharp. But a bit concerned about the sideways play. I guess that's why they made the blade replaceable. Any thoughts about this?
