I think I got mine for 230 though so prices can go lower. Also don't use lithium rechargeable in these only regular. Lithiums go from full to suddenly empty so you'll never get a warning to replace before it dies.

My recommendation is just browse the schlage website for the style and functionality you're like looking for and periodically check eBay or local for a good deal. I'd look for a model that has a key (not all models do) in case the battery dies. I personally trust schlage, the lock is robust and comes with a security latch plate and longer screws to sink the strike to framing. I never had any issues but it being so popular means lots of diy videos youtube
Otherwise why have the want to be in the ecosystem without o e basic thing
Like I said in subsequent posts I may or I may not. I'm happily using Alexa and it wasn't clearly stated that the "plus" feature doesn't work with it. I got mine at a steep discount which is only $20 more than the non-plus version, so I'm fine with using it like the non-plus version. The point of my post was to warn others who may not be ok with spending $80 more for the "plus" feature only to realize they need to spend $80 more for a hub to use the feature. There are plenty of people like myself who have Apple mobile devices but are not using HomeKit for automation, and it's not like Home Key is a tech that everybody with an iPhone's familiar with. There are only a handful of devices that support Home Key including this lock, and I've never heard of it much less that's what allows certain mobile devices to unlock it with a touch.
She does have a Apple Watch, and can't unlock it with her Home Key if I've added this device to my HomeKit since we don't have a Apple hub and can't be added to the same HomeKit account.

This would allow her to unlock the door using the Schlage watch app. But I just tried it right now and it asked me to login using my iPhone. That would've been a problem if I left the phone inside. Not as convenient as putting the watch up to the lock (with homekey) to unlock.
The inside portion isn't rated for outdoors, you'd have to build an enclosure to protect that side
