how does it get "locally". Magic?
what impact is it having it come from an Amazon warehouse vs a warehouse delivered to your local store?
Some seasonings can come from wheat, barley or rye. It's important for some people (like my daughter with celiac) for those words to be on there. Gluten shows up in so many places that one wouldn't think. It's so weird.

If you don't need gluten free, I would highly recommend getting the Better Than Bullion brand paste. It's way cheaper per serving and takes up less room because you just add it to boiling water. If you want the most nutritious stock, homemade is best, but it is the least convenient.
How hard is it to boil a chicken? Or to boil the scraps once you eat your chicken?
Why would anyone order this through Amazon???? The last few food deliveries from Amazon the contents were crushed and spilled all over the inside due to no additional protection. Everything I receive from Amazon is thrown into a box larger than necessary with no additional padding.
Many have it in the ingredients as part of the spices used, as a thickener, etc. My celiac father is extremely sensitive, and labels like this are an absolute necessity. Heck, if he buys the wrong toothpaste he's screwed.

I'm not sure if you've ever had Amazon delivered but it's quite often in a package 3x larger than needed and delivered to your door. The pallets of broth are likely delivered to your grocery on a semi containing hundreds.
I get the convenience factor, we all do, but it comes at an environmental cost which he was simply pointing out. I'm a 5 minute walk from a good grocer so I tend to think of that when passing on deals like this. Not everyone has the same situation.

the packaging is definitely a waste..I'm just not sure that small stores are more "environmentally friendly"

Agreed. They're getting very sloppy.
