This is a pretty good follow up to Yakuza: Like a Dragon. I haven't beaten it yet, but I think I'm pretty close (Chapter 11 out of, I believe, 12). But the game isn't perfect by any means. I personally got bored of the island MUCH faster than I did running Ichiban Confections, there are several spelling and grammar errors in the subtitling, and the characters seem much more "twitchy" when they talk in than the previous game, and I'm not a huge fan of several of the new classes. I like that they reintroduce some old characters, and bring in some new ones, including Chitose who's easily one of the prettiest video game characters ever. I really feel like characters from the first game should have some level of "bond" with each others instead of starting from zero.

Edit: I forgot to add that there are a few repeating unskippable scenes and it drives me bonkers.
Sega, like Ubisoft, discounts their games quite soon after release, regardless of market performance.

I'm actually a bit of the opposite - found ichiban confections to be pretty boring but I'm having fun on the island in this game. Totally worth $40

Well we both agree it's worth the cost. =) I've got S across the board on the island but it was a slog to do it. Get people, wave at them, give them gifts, do an annoying song that you can't skip, rinse repeat.

Highly recommend the game. If you liked the first one, buy this. If you like RPG's, buy this. It's probably one of the first RPG's where I really tried to increase the bonds between the characters-because it actually impacted the gameplay. I also really like some of the logical decisions made by the game that other RPG's ignore/can't account for (granted with a real-world setting with fantasy elements).

Buy/Support the game so they make another-thank you!

Fantastic game, with lots to do and a lot of variety in the side content. I'm at around 65 hours on chapter 8.

Nope, not at all. There is one big thing that happens with Kiryu in that game, but this game will cover that.

There are a ton of youtube videos covering the story if you want to really catch up, but there's a lot of detail. Anyway, LAD IW is a great game with some fantastic quality of life updates compared to to YLAD. I paid full price for it a month ago, so it must not be selling that well :\

You definitely should. It fills in a big chunk of Kiryu's story in this game. Yes, it's sort of covered in this game, but it's way better if you play that first. I guess you could play it after, and have it act as a prequel, but I played it first and I'm really glad I did.

Ichiban Confections was so much more fun than Dondoku Island. I got over the island almost immediately. I ended up playing that whole quest line, but it felt like a massive chore.

I was probably dumb for paying the full $70 at launch, but I'm glad I could support the developers because this series is a blast. Love that they've gone the JRPG route because somehow it makes sense.
