I was gifted a used freezer similar to this one. It's awesome - I can buy bulk and sale items and store it so it's a money saver.
That being said, if you can swing it, I recommend the taller standup freezers. It's a PITA to fish items out of the bottom of these chest freezers and you can lose track of what's in there. I have a system where I put things into grocery totes, but it's still a PITA.

• Garage Ready - Freezer is designed for ambient temperatures up to 110° F so it can be placed in the garage and keep food frozen.
Now garage ready normally implies the freezer can be out in a garage that sees freezing temperatures in winter without breaking, but this "garage ready" freezer only mentions excessive heat.
My garage gets way hotter than 110 in the summer heat.. it damn near gets to be 110 outside these days.
unless they have a 5+ year warranty it's junk, as all small freezers under 500 are.. the food went bad once my freezer died under 2 years old,
with steaks, shrimp, lobster tails worth a lot more than the cheap freezer cost. Buy a top brand, unless you just freeze waffles and alcohol.
Just freeze an inch or so of water in a jar and put a penny on top of the ice. If the penny falls to the bottom then you'll know for sure.
Interesting and good idea if you need something while you figure out a better way. You have to keep checking that penny and also it won't send you a text or sound alarm before you food is spoiled. Get a $20 monitor with beeping alert. I got the 2 pack last time from SD, they regularly go on sale.
get an upright and ignore comments about air loss when opening. once you fill it up there is minimal air loss and convenience more than makes up for bit less overall efficiency.

I agree about the standup freezers. Moreover, they do go for $199 at least twice a year, if you are patient, at Costco.
Seriously thinking about buying this to store seed & feed in a garage or barn - not plugged in. Someone please let me know a cheaper option the mice, chipmunks, raccoons, and moisture won't get into. I have looked for used and broken units and this is cheaper than what I've seen in my area

These small freezers are all very similar. If yours ever goes out, just change this. 99% of the time this fixes it .

I was under the impression that chest freezers are more efficient. They don't dump the cold out like a standup does when its opened.

Garage should stay cooler than outside. If it gets that hot, something is wrong with your insulation or ventilation.
