I'm building a gate right now. What the benefit of this as opposed to me cutting a few two by fours and screwing them together to form a truss? Materials cost me like $10 bucks verses $90 here. Warranty on this is just one year too...

I went with this a year or so back. Ultimately it was easier than building my own frame out of wood, and hopefully won't start sagging after a couple years like my wooden gates do due to the wood absorbing moisture and warping.

This. Usually these frames are used to prevent sagging issues. My fence gates are 10yrs old and the sagging is pretty bad. Would have appreciated if this would have been used in first place

This exact same gate is cheaper at Home Depot. How is this a front page deal?

Personally I would buy their $30 one though:

I've lived in my house for 10 years, and it's gate is wooden construction with 2x4s joined to 4x4s - and it's aged wonderfully.

I'm planning on building a second gate just like it

The fence I built at my last house utilized these and they do indeed keep the gates from sagging and make a really sturdy gate. There's a braided steel wire with a turnbuckle that runs from the top hinge side to the opposite lower corner to combat sagging. The metal seemed pretty durable.
