I got the Winix C545 in store last month for $100. It was good, then I got this C909 and returned the C545 to get 3 more C909. The C909 moves so much air. I had the C545 in the bedroom. It took a few days to notice a difference. I set up the C909 in our 800sqft family room and within 30 mins I could feel the noticeable difference in air quality. I think the C909 is an amazing deal. It's a testament to Costco buying power in order to get Winix to sell these for $200 let alone $160 on sale. The non-Costco version is the 9800 that MSRP for $330. Other retailers sell it for $260-280. Through Costco you get these for $160 with 2 years of filters. I had an expensive older Blueair model the 600 series and those were so loud with expensive filters. It ended up in storage. The C909 is quiet and powerful. I'm glad it's on sale when I'm in the market for a few.
Whattt ? Lmao
Seeing how the numbers are better and the manufacturer obviously priced higher for a reason, seems to me you just want to justify buying cheaper ones 😂.. I've had both and they are not on the same level .

The c545s seem to crap out within 1-2yrs, so durability would be what makes the difference. Not knowing that it makes it difficult to say whether this is a better deal.
Generally you're better off w multiple smaller filters than one big one, so 2 of the c545s would do a significantly better job.
Not sure about that. Have been running 4 of the c535s going on 6+ years now. Nothing wrong with any of them. Maybe a little louder becuase the fan starts to get unbalanced overtime. Running nearly 24/7
Have Winix C535. Are these a worthwhile upgrade? Looks very similar.
Even the filter is the same.

Anyone know if this has a washable/vacuumable filter at the top?
I have another purifier and I hate it because the filters are all disposable.

Costco has a profit margin ceiling, so it could be that has an effect too. I imagine as you go higher up in price, the profit margin gets bigger and bigger, and thus more room to reduce.

Good observation that the CADR isn't that much better than the C545 for the cost differential. There could be some long term value in ongoing costs per CADR in this product over the C545 since the OEM replacement filters are the same price between the two models (at least at Costco). Sourcing third party filter manufacturers would affect the ongoing costs differently since they are often way cheaper.
In regards to the filter, I thought so too, but then I looked up the filter. It uses the same filter as the C535, which has basically same CADR as C545, so I doubt it's any extra longevity. Instead, it probably just uses the filter for longer. 🤷 ♂️
So my guess is the benefit is faster air cleaning, technically shorter filter life span (but one can argue either way) and maybe better parts than the C545. Oh, black for those that prefer that.
Got C545's last year in the Woot deal for $60 each. They move soooo much air on Turbo mode. It will make paper fly off the coffee table about 15 feet away, no joke. You wanna know how much dirt it is removing from the air in your house, just check the filter after a couple weeks and you will be amazed. This thing does its job very well. I'm sure this premium model is just as food, but I'm very happy with the woot deal we got. Also like that I can control them from the app on my phone
I don't set these to turbo, I set it on the lowest setting. There's 0 noise and lots of air. The C909 uses the A filter the C545 uses a different filter. The quality between these two machines are noticeable. The C545 is smaller and looks flimsy. Maybe it's the white color. The C909 is more premium looking with a touch controls and a large light sensor.
I get the price is extremely different, but curious if the increased price is justified based on the performance.
I have a Winix 5500 and a Conway/Airmega 400. The Winix is okay, I use it in my bedroom. The biggest issue is the HEPA filter doesn't seal well. In contrast, the Conway/Airmega is in the hallway near the bedrooms and is regularly filled with dust and dander (I have 2 dogs). Additionally, when I bought my house 2 years ago everything was painted and the VOCs were bad. I left the Conway/Airmega in the open living room/dining room area and it got rid of the smell from the entire 2100 Sq ft (2-story) house in about a week. The house only had baseboard heat, so the air movement was entirely from the Conway/Airmega (the house was vacant). I will always say that Conway/Airmega is better than Winix. Not even close in my opinion.
As an aside, I also have a Levoit Core 600S. It works similar to the Winix, but it does have a slightly better seal than the Winix.
