DV stands for Dolby Vision for anyone wondering. It makes a big difference for me on content pushed through a Chromecast.

I wouldn't go for the S95C. I have the 65" model, and it sporadically drops my signal when I'm gaming with my 3090 gaming PC. I don't experience dropouts with my PS5, XSX, Denon AVR, or Apple TV. I'm actually on my second model because Samsung had to swap out the previous unit I had.

Some people don't experience S95C 65" dropouts, but when it happens it's frustrating. My wife and I played through Final Fantasy VII REMAKE on Steam, and I can't tell you how many times it dropped out. It's random as well. It would drop the audio at various points. It would completely dropout during cutscenes. I experienced similar dropouts with the QN900D 65". I wanted to see how the new One Connect Box handled 4K240 etc.

If anyone is curious, I'm forced to use the longer wall Fiber Optic One Connect Cable because my TV is wall mounted. The only time you can use the shorter One Connect Cable is if you install the One Box on the back of the pedestal stand. I tried $300 worth of HDMI 2.1 cables from various manufacturers (Zeskit Maya, AudioQuest, Ruipro, FIBRE and UGREEN.) I made sure the cables were 6ft or less.

If you get the S95C, QN900D, or any Samsung TV with a One Connect Box, make sure everything works before your return window closes.

Plus with the one connect box you don't get the full bandwidth of HDMI 2.1 from my understanding. The one connect box has also been very problematic and a lot have had to be replaced.

Yes for me 100%. If I am dropping $2000 plus dollars on OLED tv I need to enjoy the content at its fullest.I do have Samsung Q990C but still I want LG C3 for its vivid panel. Q990c and Samys tv could give me q-symphony but I need better viewing experience at this point. Both Sammys and LGs are good OLED tvs but LG has learn to fix the burnin issue earlier than sammys. LG QC vs Sammys is also not at par tough. Sammy is just 1 step behind LG in panel imo.

There's an easy mod via the service menu that makes the S89C the same brightness as the S95C. Though jury is out if that would cause any warranty issues.

I agree that it shouldn't be a deal breaker for the S89C. DV often results in an image that's way too dark. I wish LG had an easy method of turning DV off (and still get vanilla HDR10) when that's the case. That said, other times it looks great. I guess how good DV looks depends on the choices made by the person mastering the content (and whether or not those choices were good ones). The same can be said of HDR 10+.

As for the comparisons between the S89C/S90C and the LG C3, I think it comes down to the increased brightness and better color saturation and uniformity afforded by QD-OLED vs the known reliability of LG's burn-in mitigations and DV. I can see valid arguments for either option. The bottom line is that one can't go wrong with either of these TV's for under $2,000.
