I got mine 3 days ago... I should've posted this deal, lol...

My initial observations are that doesn't come with a collection bag, and can very easily overwhelm the DEWALT FLEXVOLT 60V MAX* Dust Extractor (DCV585B) that I connected to it. It's lightweight and makes quick work of an uneven floor. I wish I'd bought this earlier and used it instead of the belt sander - both are useful, but this is 100 times faster and with significantly less battery draw for the volume removed.

Is this good for furniture refinishing, like a table top, or would a belt-sander be better?

A sander would be the right choice, but only after using something to strip the original finish. The sander would then be used to rough up the surface for the application of the new finish.

A planer like this is used mainly to remove material evenly from something like a door edge. It takes a bit of practice to remove an even amount evenly. If you're new to the tool make sure to lower to the smallest setting and then gradually move up to larger chunks of material. Practice on something sacrificial and without any nails or metal that can nick the blade and cause streaks in your planing.
