The Quest 2 still has quite a bit of life to it - it won't get the high-res textures in newer games, but Meta unlocked something like 30% extra power in the headset a while back, there's a huge backlog of quality games and even the newer games run on it (there might be a couple quest-3-exclusive games on it)
Much of the Quest3 benefit is going to be in the better lenses, the extra power (higher quality visuals) and the color passthrough, and I love all of these -- but the Quest 2 can still run games great.
I'd say the controllers on the Quest 2 might even track better than the Quest 3.
A couple quick notes/suggestions:
Use a referral code when activating your Quest, you'll get a bonus $30 store credit.
Whenever buying a game from the store, use a referral code and you'll save 25% instantly. Both of these are easy to find.
Buy the "Quest Games Optimizer" (3rd party tool) which will let you adjust the quality of games, like resolution and power. Many of them are not optimized and can look considerably better with this add-on

* Virtual Reality gaming (sitting, standing, smallscale or room scale) - no PC required, the games run off of the headset itself
* VR/3D Content viewing (of all sorts..)
* Fitness (lots of different fitness "games" that help make working out a lot more fun)
* Meditating/Relaxing (lots of VR content/apps for that)
* Connecting to a PC (either to play PC games in VR like Half Life Alyx or view your desktop in VR)

People like to watch 3D corn videos on how to shuck cobs, and it can get messy.
Step, of course. Step.
btw someone mentioned q3 lite coming for 199...i'd suspect the price will be 299 after all they barely got this down to 199 on clearance after all this time. also we dont know what the q3 lite will be missing that the q3 has. one rumor i saw said q3 lite might not come with controllers but just track your hands. i hope not as that sounds awful. will they cut the pancake lenses, the color pass through, or just some cpu and ram from the q3?
anyways better to buy this than a terrible, bulky oversized product on the verge of being canceled like the steam deck imo. and it costs 1/3 as much. everyone i know who owns a steam deck it just collects dust but then valve always abandons its hardware projects.
i'm not sure why but i just cant get myself to pull the trigger on this. with whatever circle coupons were going on a few weeks ago i could get the price down to 159 plus tax, still didnt buy :/ part is the family has owned one before, so it wont be a new experience for me, which lessens the excitement. 9 yr old niece got this recently and loves it fwiw, tho it's also her first time experiencing vr and she's well, 9.
