It might come with a separate SIM which you will need to use instead of any SIM inside s23. Make sure your port status is successful if you are doing that. Also do some texts but those are the steps. It's not a guaranteed thing but hopefully you should not have any problem.

No the activation fee will come as a part of the bill.

Yes you can cancel it right after unlocking if you are planning on unlocking it. It's difficult/impossible to unlock it you cancel first.

ATT is like 75 a month, stick to prepaid imao

Unless you on a family plan or something

Not worth it and I want to go back to android but I don't trust ATT at all.

Most in the comments are buying the phone to take a stab at cancelling with AT&T before any plan charges happen haha. This is slickdeals. I'm pretty sure a high % of us are on prepaid plans and paying a fraction of what postpaiders on single liners are paying.

Yes. Unless you're going to have it done in store with a phone rep, the Tello SIM is one of the quicker ways to do it online. AT&T/Bestbuy need to see you're porting in a number for them to ship the phone out to you.
