Literally bought and canceled the same hour online. On the desktop browser, there's a button to cancel, asks you twice if you want to cancel and membership valid until next year.
My wife and I opened a new account in alternate years. Me one year, her the next year.
Have been doing that for 20 years.
I have noticed. I bought it several weeks ago for 20$ no cash back on Groupon . I had 2 weeks still of my old membership . If I would of waited I would of got a membership 14$ and cash back 🤦 ♂️ while not waisting 2 weeks time of my old membership.

Yes $20 is worth as you get free shipping with the same store price. And they have sams cash back, too. I am sure you will make $20 sams cash within a year.
Costco does free shipping too but their online price is higher than store price.
