FYI - I went through the membership signup process a couple of times and ended up with going into limbo both times - costco system hung up. Signed up for a costco account and entered the process and it worked!
If anyone is trying to decide between the regular and executive membership, just know/remember you need to spend $3000 in store or online annually (with a few exclusions) for the executive membership to pay for itself/recoup the extra cost. Every dollar after that is profit.
And I believe you can get a refund if you decide halfway through that you definitely won't make it, just in case.
FYI for anyone who bit on the $20 card offer last week - no price match on membership promotional offers. I tried on chat with a representative earlier.
Their scan and go app is phenomenal though. Hate standing in line at Costco like a sucker. Their TP and paper towels are still cheaper than HEB, and better quality too. Bottled water is cheaper as well, if you need bottled water.

I remember signing up for BJs for this reason - got membership for $25 + $25 card that could be used for gas. I'm still a Bjs member mainly due to cheaper gas + 10 cents off with Bjs card.
Now if I can use $40 for Costco gas I ay be enticed to join.
BTW I just joined SAMS club for $19 solely to purchase a 1UP Arcade cabinet - honed and BOOM the dang thing sold out. Really don't care to drive out to Sam's for groceries to gas. They used to have great sign up deals with coupons - free stuff. Not any more.
I paid for the membership with the coupon online, got the account number and everything seemed to be fine. However, a few days later, when I went to Costco to get my membership card the staff were saying that they see some error in my payment, and it did not go through (even though I was already charged and my online account was saying that my membership is active). Had to pay for the membership again there so I could get the card. My online account still says that my membership been active since the original payment date, so I hope I will still get my shopping card. The original pending transaction on my bank disappeared.
Question not related to membership, but to the cash card. One time we went to Costco with $20 cash card and spend around $170 and the person came over to authorize it and told us to not purchase that much or you need a membership. Is this true?
Has anyone received their $40 gift card yet? I signed up exactly 7 days ago. I wonder if it'll take the whole 2 weeks
I have not got the gift card yet either, I signed up on 4/18. I thought maybe it would come sooner than this since its a digital card after all. I also don't see anyway to even check if the gift card was approved or not.
Does anyone know how long this deal is valid? Will this last into May at all?
Just asking because my 18 months from previous membership expire at the end of April.
So If I get the membership now, I won't be considered a "new" member. But in May, I will be. Thanks in advance.

I think as long as they took $0.01 off the membership total, you should be good for a gift card
Dumb question: Where does one enter the SLICK24 promo code?
I don't see a place for it on the first Gold Star Membership New Sign Up screen.
Without knowing with absolute certainty, I am unwilling to continue the sign up process after providing personal information.
Where exactly is the place to enter SLICK24? Maybe update the info at the beginning.
(I would prefer to go through Costco directly instead of StackSocial. The place where one gets [grey market volume] keys for Windows and Office. Which could be deactivated at any time by Micro$oft. And looking at comments, some don't get the $40 Costco gift card after signing up via StackSocial. So I am leery of them.)

15% new member discount on StakeSocial did not worked for this deal. Hence, I directly purchased the membership through Costco website using the promo code and received the shop card.

But my question is where the SLICK24 promo code (for the $40 Shop Card) is entered. It isn't on the first screen of the sign up process. (There is a https://www.costco.com/join-triple-play.html deal for a $50 Shop Card if one joins Costco as a new Executive Member, apply for the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi and get approved.)
I don't want to get very far in the sign up process then discover there is no place for a promo code. After I entered a bunch of information.
(Because I have been burned by various free tax filing websites where I almost get to the end and then learn it isn't free. Some aspect of the return disqualified it for the free filing. E.g. HSA forms that were OK in the past. (Fortunately this year I learned ahead of time that the federally taxable MN COVID tax rebate disqualified the free filing website I used last year.) So I am a tad leery of signup processes without knowing everything.)
Update: It dawned on me to try entering enough obfuscated information to get past the first Gold Star Membership New Sign Up screen. That worked, but ended up on a Sign In screen. (Where one can also create an account.)
Makes sense I guess. But I am not creating a new account without knowing for certainty that there is:
A place later to enter a Promo Code
And that SLICK24 will work to get the $40 Shop Card
(For my use case I cannot justify paying $60 a year to shop when most things I would be interested in are not cheaper. Gas is cheaper of course, but based on current prices I am not going to burn 428 gallons in a year to reach the break-even point. If I still filled up twice a month, maybe. Heck, 30 years ago I couldn't justify continuing my $25 a year membership at Sam's Club. They, back then and now, don't have gas pumps.)

Does this shop card expires within a certain number of days from membership purchase date?
I know BJS rewards expired in 30 days.
