Costco has the popular Apple HomePod 2nd Gen for $199.99, the lowest price new ever. This is an exceptional speaker, and if you combine 2 of them you can use as an Atmos system with your Apple TV. Which I personally use and can confirm its better than pretty much all soundbar setups under $1K.

In Store @ $199.99
This particular pic is from Carlsbad Costco, where they had at least 30 in stock from my visual.

Most likely your issue.

I don't think most people have problems playing one song. Sonos subs are filled with these comments and turns out to be network related. It's not only about the router there can also be interference in your building or other reasons.

Trust me if people could not play one song on these speakers they wouldn't sell and everyone would bash them
These work fantastic with Apple TV. Much better than my Sonos Ones. They are a no brainer if you are in the Apple ecosystem. Nice find!
Costco rep told me they're phasing these out. None left in WA State (Seattle etc).

I got 4 of these at Sam's club when they were clearancing them out for $80 each. They are really nice and sound incredible. Making phone calls with it is pretty impressive
i think you mean the smaller ones- these have never gone below $200 anywhere

But apples whole HomeKit AirPlay ecosystem is beyond trash. It's gotten worse rather than better. It's frankly insane given their position and wealthy

I've had two sets of stereo HomePods and for the last year, despite different WiFi access points and routers, I can't get through a single song without them cutting out. A single HomePod usually works fine.

I finally disconnected them and switched to Klipsch Fives in my office and Nines in the living room. These can be had for $450 (Fives) and $1k (Nines) if you shop around - that's the pair, not each

I used to dream of filling my homes with $199 HomePods and now that it's here.... it's a huge no thanks

You do you tho
Siri really sucks controlling devices too. It was working well until last few months and now Siri cant understand even basic commands unless spoken in a specific word order. And dont get me started as to the random device that siri decides to reply on - favorite is when a speaker replies from 3 rooms away but not when standing next to it, there the iphone siri replies.

Next gen must be coming. The HomePod Mini is getting a bit long in the tooth as well. Speaking of HomePod line, I just purchased a used Mini online for a very good price just to see what they are all about.

Didn't Apple killed this product once already?

No go.

Those were $150. That was a great deal.

At $150, it's a good deal. $200 is still to much for the limited use.

Google forces you to share voice data, Apple doesn't force that access bc they prioritize data privacy. Agreed, Siri sucks and always has relative to competition (maybe always will?), but it's for a good reason.

Siri sucks but it's for a good reason? Lol, that sounds like Tim Cook speak.

I use a pair of 1st Gen's for my entertainment system. They sound awesome with Apple TV. You will be amazed at how much quality sound comes out of these things. They don't compare to a hi-fi multi speaker system because those cost more and take up too much space with cables and speakers.

If I didn't already have Gen 1s, I would get these at $200. I think Gen 2's are slightly better than Gen 1s. I wouldn't bet on them introducing Gen 3's for a while...I dont think these are all that popular.

And for everyone complaining about Siri. I agree. But I do know that the AI Assistant wars have been declared and Apple will upgrade Siri in the next year guaranteed.

Are these returnable indefinitely or just within 90 days of purchase?

Same energy as this guy on Apple ecosystem /home pod specifically. The software and integrations just aren't as smooth as other options like Sonos or even Alex speakers.

Otherwise I'd be eager to fill my home with these (former gen 1 HomePod early adopter).

If use two instead of a soundbar, it'd only work when using Apple TV right? i.e., I wouldn't be able to use the HomePods as speaker when watching regular TV or playing Xbox?
As the OP said, HomePods will works with ANY source that you connect to your TV, as long as the TV has an eARC port. That includes watching TV, and playing your XBox. Just make sure you connect the AppleTV to the eARC port on your TV, and you're good.

There is. It's called a phone! 😂
But, seriously, the 'never call' rule of SD does not apply to Costco, as their employees don't hog all the good deals for themselves. If you call just one Costco, they will even be able to check if any other location near you has the item in stock. Those guys are very helpful.
