The Betta SE is the only robot that has reliably worked in my pool over the years. It's incredible actually. I just leave it in for the season periodically emptying it when necessary. Charges itself.
I have heard the same. I just started my second year with a wired Polaris model.
If anyone has the new aiper pro line that came out a few months back and goes for 900$-1k+ I am interested how they work and how reliable they have been. They are the first wireless aier models that don't need fishing out with a pole and hook.
when I was in the market polaris IQ 8642 was good for the price. It died 2 times in 3 year warranty, local pool shop worked with them on replacements. Something on the board seems to corrode near the wire connection is the failure mode on all 3 I had, current one is showing same signs. If I had a time machine I would get a dolphin back then.
Aiper always has a sale going on. Not really a deal. I have the seagull pro. It's a beast. And they stand behind their product. I had an issue ans they promptly replaced it. Then sent another on top of that!
What about this one for $99
If you mess around on the listing, you can find that amazon has it on sale for $99, sold and shipped via amazon. Updated 2024 version in white![amazon.com]

The good news is they'll replace them quickly when, not if it fails.
The issue is it'll keep failing. Since Im past the year warranty when this one fails I'll file a credit card claim.

this thing is for surface level so what do you do when things hit the bottom?

It does okay. Doesn't get everything and had a small part break on a relatively new unit and had to replace the whole basket.
