S&W knives are terrible quality. Sub $20, I highly recommend the folding knives that take standard utility blades. The Milwaukee are really great but the Home Depot Husky brand is cheaper than this S&W.
This is my go-to for opening boxes
Amazon.com: Kershaw 1.4-Inch Folding Pocketknife with Bottle Opener and Keychain - Black Handle : Everything Else
love it. its a great tiny knife
Nah, the only knife worth having for that purpose is the Gerber EAB lite with replaceable blades and tiny (but not too small) form factor
I knew the knife thread would be the one thread on here that I wouldn't have to ask one question about because everyone would have already freely given every possible opinion out there before I even got to it. And I couldn't be happier. I wish all threads were full of that "knife guys talking about knives with other knife guys" energy. It's like being at a BBQ and all the guys crowd the cook and tell him their opinion on how they cook their burgers and say "you should flip that one" over and over.
I'm here for it, gang. I truly am. If only Mopar engines came up on here, then we'd have a party!
+1 for the Kershaw Cinder. I have the copper version, it's a very solid keychain knife. The black version only a couple of bucks more on Amazon than the S&W posted https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BAJK...=UTF8&th=1
So from what I understand, these blades are made by Taylor Cutlery.
They are 440c. Not the best steel but certainly not the worst.
I also sure for price, it is a decent deal.
But the Kershaw Cinder can be had for 20 bucks for 2 on Amazon…
Ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances.
440c is a great steel, if whoever makes those S&W knives can be trusted that that is what they are really using. I would have guessed closer to 3cr or 4cr and not an especially great heat treatment done on them from what I have experienced from the S&W knives I've used. Not terrible, defeatedly useable, just combined with the low build quality, folks looking for better should look at the Kershaw alternatives. That said, some folks just love S&W for their price point.

Yup and I'm leaving this controlling state in t-minus 2 months. Would highly recommend it
Very easy to open one-handed, but it's an awkward size and shape. I do NOT recommend.
