Philips 5400 Series Fully Automatic Espresso Machine - LatteGo x1
Extra Philips LatteGo Milk System x1
Philips Original Descaler for Espresso Machines x2
Philips AquaClean Water Filter x6
I got this last Nov for around the same price from the same Phillips website, and we LOVE this thing. We have probably run about 13 lbs of beans through it, zero problems, easy to use, easy/fast to clean, and all of the drinks are great. I can do better foam and better shots manually, but that is in the realm of diminishing returns... and the convenience makes all the difference between one or two drinks a day vs. one or two a week (if that). I went for this one because of 4 user profiles (we LOVE this feature, to be able to have everyone in the house have their own dialed in drink settings easy to access), where lesser models only have 2 I think. IIRC this was the only model that had the extra shot feature... where it will actually grind, charge, and extract one shot, and then it will empty the used puck, grind again, charge, and extract the second shot all automatically. I have extra shot on all of my drinks... that one feature alone is now a deal breaker... if I ever get another machine, it MUST do the second shot like this (vs. more grounds and a single extraction).
This wasn't cheap, but compared to superautos available say 5-10 years ago (or less) it is way cheaper, and less complicated / easier to clean & fix, and it does everything all in one go. The drinks might be slightly less good, but our fam is more than happy with this thing.
I have this machine. It's great and very convenient. Start up time is about a minute or so. You just pick the drink you want, load in the milk jug (if applicable), start it, and you get coffee in another minute or so.
The grinder on the machine (and probably similar models) is kind of loud. I would see if you can see some videos of it on YouTube to see how loud it is if something like that could be a deal breaker for you.
They haven't released a new version in some time. They released a new version of the 3200 which has an ice coffee feature while this one does not. So I imagine that they're either going to refresh this version to add Ice Coffee or will likely add a new version.
They should make the water container larger on these. I have the 3200 and love it, but the most annoying part is refilling the water every other day.

I still don't understand why companies do these kinds of things. Saeco is an established brand known for making quality espresso machines… (they invented the first automatic espresso machine)
Why would you get rid of that brand and replace it with Philips - manufacturer of many things in the US I suspect most known for toothbrushes and now mediocre TV's.
Regardless it does look like Saeco just released a new top of the line machine (Xelsis) in Europe , so maybe they are keeping Saeco for the high end machines.
I agree with you, I would much rather buy a Saeco than a Philips (based on the quality of all the other Philips items they have on the market)....but that's why i wanted to mention it, so others know this is a quality product and not a "cheap philips" .... hope that makes sense.
and yes, I almost bought an Xelsis due to the quality and when you search online (for sale here in the US) you will see the following "Philips Saeco Xelsis...." in the product name.
I'm in the Jura camp, and so far my Jura J9.3 from 2012(?) is still going strong!
Most people don't need this fancy one, a 3200 does everything with few extra steps but worth it for the convenience.
Personally I use these for the espresso availability and do other things manually so even a 2200 works.
Helps avoid the dependency on these machines as one you get used to it, it's hard to go back from 1 touch mechanism.
When I spoke with CS yesterday, they told me they were inundated with orders because of the promotion. Ordered last Thursday, and was just marked for shipping today with delivery set for tomorrow. (Remember weekends don't count as business days).
It wasn't an official shipping update from Philips, but since I have UPS email notifications on, I got an update from "KENCO C/O VERSUNI". Which a quick Google search says it's Philips-related.
Amazon warehouse has the 3200 for slightly less than $300, and I'm really debating taking a shot. Are there any features that are truly missing from the 3200 when compared to the 5400 that would make the extra money worth it? I know there are slightly manual workarounds for making the same drinks, but wanting to know what really drives the prices
Am I the only one who didn't like this? I bought it and returned it to Amazon. I have a Breville and didn't want to do grinding, tamping, and remaining 20 steps every morning, so I bought this. I hoped one button will give me a great cappuccino. But no, this is nowhere as good as the Breville and I returned. What's worst is that it felt cheaply built. Plastic buttons would make creaking sound. Too expensive for that quality
It does not make real milk foam, So cappuccino is only an approximation to the real thing. Still using it daily since I am lazy. Did neither clean nor lubricate the brew group for four or so years. I like to think the coffee oils did the lubrication. It eventually clogged and I had to clean it. Still working to this day.
Mine came in today. First few shots were basically clear, and then the next 10 shots got progressively darker. I started tasting it at the 20th shot and it was pretty good. The used up grounds are super wet though. Haven't tried it with higher quality beans yet, but will try that once the pucks are coming out drier.
Am I doing this right? Haha, I'm very new to the espresso game.
Our order finally showed up yesterday and unfortunately we were not there to refuse the delivery. FWIW their website has to be the absolute most awful consumer experience I have ever seen and sealed the deal on not dealing with this company. You literally have to call customer service M-F between 8am-5pm to start the return process. You cannot even email them even though the order on the website invites you to do so. The "Contact Us" link literally points you to an email address [email protected]s!
Called today since I still haven't gotten a refund and they received the machine back over two weeks ago after I refused delivery. They said it can take up to 15 business days from the day they get it back to give a refund!

Edit: still. no. refund. Worst customer service.
I am in the exact same boat! They refunded the free extra LatteGo at $30 and their email indicates that they believe they have fully refunded me. The only other company website and service I have experienced worse than this is Dyson and I won that credit card dispute. Looks like I'm in for another. Can you imagine if you have a warranty issue?!?!?!

That'd be awful. They said it's queued for a refund and they still have 3 days to issue it 🙄. I'll call yet again on Tuesday or Wednesday and if no refund by then I'll just submit a dispute with my bank.
