Thanks, ordered. I had deal alert for this.

My 2010 or so Magnifica finally got to the point of no longer worth fixing. During these years,
It had daily use and kept going.

I hope this one will be as good.

I replaced a water pump $20,or so, a couple of years ago. Was an easy install for me.
This time the burr grinder unit finally went out. After a decade+ of abuse by dark roasts, not a surprise. I found one for 170, and could have fixed it, but not worth it on a 14 yr machine I paid 399 for back then.

Anyway my experience has been great with Magnificas.
I bet many of the insides are the same as my old one.

Two things worth mentioning imo:

Machines like these are more noisy than a drip coffee maker or Keurig. But then there are no quiet coffee grinders afaik. If you don't have a bedroom where someone needs to sleep nearby when coffee is made, it is no issue.

Second, depending on water, you have to descale these quite a bit. White vinegar is not as strong as proper descaling solution. However, you can buy 2 gallons for the price of a bottle of descale solution, and it worked fine for the last 8 years on my last Magnifica YMMV, if your water is full of minerals, you may need to stick with the real descaling solution.
There is zero taste residue with white vinegar. I am sure it isn't Manufacturer recommended but worked fine for me and our water.

Last tip. The machine discharges a bit of water as part of the startup and shutdown. If you keep a cup sitting under the spouts when you turn it on and off, or just have one sitting there, you have to clean the drip tray less often.
Are you really that complacent? I mean you aren't even asking if anyone here has personally used it. You're asking us to do exactly what you should...go to the item page and look at the reviews or just read the details of the deal where it literally tells you the review rating.
The reviews seem to be pretty interesting. Click the link lazy guy!

.

The Philips super automatic are quiet in comparison and are not as wasteful with cleaning water.

We do latte extremely rarely.
There is a similar delonghi machine on sale at Costco for a 100 more it has a milk container built in. You can return if it does do them well.

Philips bought the Saeco brand and then produced their own machines.
I owned two Saecos, before my last Magnifica, both were much higher maintenance and each lasted only about 3 years before they were broken and not worth fixing. Philips may have improved the design.

I had a Saeco that lasted me almost 20 years but required a couple of repairs due to my using French Roast beans. My repair guy suggested the Magnifica as replacement because of its popularity and ease of access to repair parts. And there are a lot of videos on YouTube for the diy crowd. I take care of mine and clean it and grease the brewing unit every month.

The Costco version is missing some preset buttons . I ended having target price match Amazon 550 price . It might not matter for some but since it's a gift to a coffee lover I wanted to make sure I gave them more options.

We purchased this in November of last year. We love it. My husband programmed the mylatte button so I make a wonderful latte every morning and add an extra espresso shot. Easy to use, easy to clean. I wish we had got it for this price.

I own it. Purchased it last BF for $400 I make 3-5 cups a day and it's works fantastic. I owned the older version for 12 years and it also worked great until it finally crapped, this is why I bought pretty much the same make and model. I opted for the one without a the milk dispenser. I found that milk goes bad quicker when you don't use all of it and stick it back in the fridge in the little canister. Also I like to control the milk temperature frothing manually.

I also own the Phillips 5400 in another location, the coffee is good but it crapped after 6 months and dealing with Phillips support was just agony and unfortunately I didn't buy it from Costco. Stick to the delonghi especially when backed by costcos fantastic return policy as a safety net. My favorite beans I use are Lavazza Qualita Oro (Gold bag) from Amazon. Highly recommended machine.

I couldn't comprehend the difference between this model and the one similar to this bit with high price tag https://www.costco.com/de%e2%80%9...66595.html

Any one please?
This will be my first espresso purchase. Thanks!

Your link has one that with a milk dispenser to make latte easier. That's the difference.
Your can still make latte with the one in this deal, but the one you linked is likely better for people that make lots of lattes.
