Bambino plus has a back off value for steam pressure release -- this QOL feature
And the porta filter is much better quality compared to regular Bambino.,-- this definitely makes difference in shot that's being pulled

Not a coffee aficionado, but I've had the bambino plus for a few years, and it's been a solid machine. It can make a great espresso, late, or americano without too much skill and I haven't had any problems with it. For what it's worth I'd buy it again at this price in a heartbeat.

Anyone knows how this compares to the Breville Infuser? Mine just broke after 9 years of use and this seems like a good replacement in the price range

Have it, love it, my only comment is that I never use the milk settings anymore. When I began i used them for a month, then I learned how to do it manually. If you are willing to take a day or two and practice milk frothing, I don't think you need the plus — just go with the bambino and save $100

You can't win. Gaggia is even worse; they are fickle about their warranties when the time comes.
Gaggia could become better if you were to mod it -- you can get PID and even shot profiling w gagguino. But without modding, Bambino plus all day.

I rarely use the milk steamer on my Breville because I hate cleaning it. I just heat up milk in a microwave then froth it using subminimal nanofoamer. On weekends when I have more time I will go higher quality with my froth and use the wand in the unit. I find the nanofoamer is good enough to get smooth micro bubbles and art if desired.

Any grinder recommendation to pair with this? Newbie to espresso so beginner/intermediate level is good for me.

Quote from D_G :
I've owned this machine since October 2022, with about 2-3 average shots/day. It's a great budget/starter machine for the price.

It heats up in seconds (as opposed to 5+ minutes with other machines), and the automatic frother works great.

For anyone getting into espresso, I highly recommend getting a separate bottomless portafilter and a precision (IMS) basket (18g).

You should also weigh your beans for consistency.

Another important factor is ground bean consistency. You could definitely get by with using a cheap grinder, but you'll get inconsistent outputs. If you're on a budget, either get a hand grinder or a DF64, or similar for around $200. It will make a very big difference.

One last thing to add, to top the deal off, Breville also owns the site Beanz, which also has free coffee/CB promotions (including now).

Edit:
Also forgot to mention that you should definitely get a new tamper as well. Preferably a self-leveling one (like a Normcore v4)
Now there's a DF54, for about $300. Exceptional grinder for the price and a great companion to this machine.

IMPORTANT: Anyone who buys this machine will need an espresso grinder, such as the DF54 or DF64. You cannot use pre-ground coffee, even ground for espresso. What you really want is coffee which was roasted within 5-21 days, and you weight out and grind each shot. I do that every morning and my wife and I love our cappuccinos every morning.

For great tips on this and other Breville machines, check out Hoon's Coffee on YouTube.
