I purchased a 12k "hose-in-hose" Midea unit for my parents last year. It is superior to the single hose, but the inlet and outlet are in the same hose. Some air will mix. In addition, the part that seals in the window is not great. Even with applying foam, there are minor gaps.

All of these portable ACs are terrible when compared to a window AC. If you have a vertical window, you should consider a U shaped window AC. Not only does it cool faster, it's way quieter, doesn't take up any floor space, don't have to worry about dumping condensation water, has better window seal, and you can even open your window if you want to.
Having the dual tube design is very important. One tube for drawing in outside air and one for exhausting the hot air. Looks like a good deal from a great vendor. Congrats on making a good contribution to the site and welcome.
Good price. But I had a unit, broke after 2 months, had an error code that indicated refrigerant leak, god a full refund from Sam's.

Do we need to retain Sam's club membership to use the 2 year warranty?

The reason you want a dual hose is that a single hose creates a vacuum, and will pull it air through any crack or crevice you dont know you have. The dual hose doesnt create a vacuum as the second hose is sucking in the air from the window you have it in.

Whens its say 80 degrees out a single hose will work just fine, but get up into the 90's and humid your single hose wont work so great. It will be pulling in hot air through the floors and walls and will barely cool things down.

Of course window AC is better, but in situations like an apartment, or where HOA restrictions dont let you have window units etc.. they are useful.
Or you have a horizontally sliding window.

No joke. There is a house behind me with the traditional window AC units, 4 of them. All of the houses built in the last 20ish years around here have horizontal slide windows. These folks don't even have a piece of plywood in the open space above the AC units. Can only imagine what their power bill is in the Summer.

That said, I got a fairly identical looking Midea Inverter unit like in this deal and it works great. Got a Hisense dual hose maybe 5 years back and didn't care for it much. After getting the Midea, I absolutely hate the Hisense one.

You're better off just grabbing some generic hoses from amazon if you're dead set on a dual hose. Just keep in mind. Those hoses will be drawing in warm/hot outside air through one hose, the other hose will exhaust that air that has now been heated. So both of those hoses, fully stretched and extended, will be dumping some amount of heat back into the space.

How long of a distance are you needing these hoses to go? Does the room you are wanting it in not have windows?

problem for us with the midea u unit is that we have blinds that pull down and have a light block on the side of the windows - as a result, i don't know how to use the bracket that comes with the midea as you can't bolt it to the sides. Any idea on what to do to get around that?
I recently installed it and it was a pain free experience. Not sure what is a light block on the windows side. A picture might help.

Just thought I'd leave my 2 cents. I have the Toshiba RAC-PT1412HVWRU (14,000 BTU/12,000 BTU DOE) air conditioner that's made by Midea. It looks like it is practically the same as this one, just a higher cooling capacity and branded as Toshiba instead of Midea. I previously had a cheaper Hisense unit that was single-hose and non-inverter and while it did work well, the difference in both cooling performance and noise level is astounding. My Toshiba unit can shut the fan completely off when it reaches the desired temperature (or not, it's up to you) which is nice for sound. Also, being an inverter unit, it doesn't make that buzz/thump when it's charged up and starts the compressor.

If I had to criticize anything, I'd say that due to the hose being a sort of rectangular hose-in-hose design, it doesn't allow you to rotate the cooler very far to angle it towards the left or right of the window. Also, the plastic panels were extremely annoying to set up and they had sharp edges, so I would highly recommend wearing jeans when assembling it (at least the first time) to avoid slicing open your legs or feet if you accidentally drop the panel. Overall, assuming the performance is comparable to my higher capacity Toshiba (priced at $599 at Home Depot), I'd say this is a Slick Deal if you need a portable air conditioner.

Thank you for replying. It's kind of den room with no windows and looking to vent out through the attic to the outside home. a total of 10-15 feet may be from unit to outside home

I had the exact same issue. And they refunded the money, but they said you can keep the a.c we dont want it back. So, I just had a very big and heavy paper weight. Takes over most of my computer desk

Good deal, the 12k non heat pump Midea portable on Amazon is $510. Most likely the same unit as this one with just a slightly different model number. (and no separate remote like Amazons, but you have the phone app)

This shouldn't matter I think, you just tilt the AC stand while trying to put on the window sill and it should fit just fine.

that's helpful. is it okay if i don't need to nail or secure the side rails than? because of the strips, i wouldn't be able to nail the AC stand on the bottom that secure to the right and left of the window.
