Got some this morning when they opened at 10 am EST, thanks OP!
What the heck is a "cutting pad"? I just Googled it, looks like just a microfiber application pad? Apparently there is hard cut and medium cut. I just messed up my 4Runner trying to clean off what I thought was dirt, but was probably actually concrete (at least mixed with dirt), so scratched up the paint at Autobell trying to clean it with the kid drying it since it wouldn't come off after riding through. I'm so annoyed.
Too much construction in the Triangle area in NC.

Cutting pads are typically foam pads to go on polishers with different abrasive levels for multiple stages of paint correction(swirl, scratch removal, etc.).

Ah ok, so the instructions on the One and Done compound are to use a "stiff cutting pad". Assuming "stiff" and "heavy are the same, I need to use a polisher? Obviously, replicating a polisher by hand isn't exactly feasible...

You could apply this hand with just a foam applicator. It would do best applied with a machine polished though but I would start with a fine pad at low speed and see how that does. I've used this compound and it is pretty mild in terms of abrasiveness.
Is this clear coat safe? I have horrible memories of Nu Finish and what it did to my red 91 240SX SE Coupe... Beautiful for about 2-3 weeks... then everything began peeling. I didn't know...

It did the same thing to my '86 Chrysler Laser XE.

They are often dark red. Polishing pads are often yellow. The cutting pads are noticeable stiffer.
I bought one of each. I hope the fact it's really old doesn't hurt the performance. All the bottles had $5 rebate stickers on them that expired in 2022.
