For the people complaining about the fingerprint sensors -
A really good trick is putting the same finger in twice.
I have my left thumb saved twice in my 6pro and it's fast and flawless. My other fingers take much longer to detect. Seems silly but works very well with this method.
I'm a current Google Fi user so I take advantage of the phone deals constantly. I am on the $20/month plan which charges $10 per gig of data since I'm a light data consumer. If you go with an unlimited data option, the phone deal isn't with it probably. Something like US Mobile would be more cost effective in the long term and buying the phone outright.
MKBHD said the 8 is better. Better screen, better materials, better camera sensor. However this deal is much cheaper for Google-Fi customers. I have Pixel 5a, 6a, 7 currently. Loved 5a physical finger sensor, works instantly. On-screen finger sensor on 6a and 7 are problematic for me. I switched to Moto ThinkPhone and it has been a dream to use. Think phone gets immediate security and OS updates and everything works flawlessly. Couldn't be happier.

The upfront discount is available for existing FI customers. For new customers it's 24 months credit. Here's how some became an existing customer quickly and ordered the S24 Ultra with upfront discount in Feb. I don't if FI has plugged the loop hole though.
1. Create a new Google FI account with unlimited plus or flexible plan.
2. Wait for the first bill to be finalized in 3-4 days.
3. Order the phone with 24 months credit as a new customer.
4. Cancel the order.
5. The offer for upfront discount as an existing customer should be available in your account.
You still have to be with FI for 120 days so that's roughly $120 on top of $299 for the phone,
Can confirm that the Pixel 7 fingerprint sensor is finicky. My last phone was the 3a, and that sensor was flawless. You hate to see the regression.
I'll never buy another Pixel specifically because of the fingerprint sensor. I can log into my phone successfully on the first try less than half of the time. My 4a5G was flawless. Never had an issue. How you let something like this out of the door then charge customers almost a grand for it is a pathetic joke.

Why do you have so many phones? Do you use all of them?
I was about to get the deal as I am a long time google fi user who is very unhappy with my recent purchase of a Samsung A15. The A15 is ultra slow and it has pocket dial issues far worse than I have ever soon. I also don't love the Samsung specific OS features.
That said, seeing that the Pixel 8a has no headphone jack, and is 6.1in diagnal in screen size, I don't want to deal with no jack and a smaller screen. Ill keep my phone search going I guess...

i had 6pro 7pro and 8pro and the fingerprint sensor always worked flawlessly like almost 100% i didnt have screen protector tho.
only time it doesnt work is when its raining and wet and when u can something like salt grains stuck on ur fingers. 8 and 7 have face unlock but not in dark
pixel 4 could work in the rain without a problem so why doesnt 8pro not work in the rain not just the fp
is this better than the pixel 8? i was doing a comparison, other than model name 8 vs 8A and slight update in the camera, they are almost identical. as a matter of fact, 8 has better video frame rates. is that true?
No, MKBHD kept it simple and said "just get the 8."

Is the S24 deal still going on too?

Pixel will still have the VPN
