For the people complaining about the fingerprint sensors -
A really good trick is putting the same finger in twice.
I have my left thumb saved twice in my 6pro and it's fast and flawless. My other fingers take much longer to detect. Seems silly but works very well with this method.
I'm a current Google Fi user so I take advantage of the phone deals constantly. I am on the $20/month plan which charges $10 per gig of data since I'm a light data consumer. If you go with an unlimited data option, the phone deal isn't with it probably. Something like US Mobile would be more cost effective in the long term and buying the phone outright.
MKBHD said the 8 is better. Better screen, better materials, better camera sensor. However this deal is much cheaper for Google-Fi customers. I have Pixel 5a, 6a, 7 currently. Loved 5a physical finger sensor, works instantly. On-screen finger sensor on 6a and 7 are problematic for me. I switched to Moto ThinkPhone and it has been a dream to use. Think phone gets immediate security and OS updates and everything works flawlessly. Couldn't be happier.

Thank you!! I can finally use my right thumb to unlock! It had been the only real issue with my 6a.
Because it's 2024 and the cost to move data is so cheap that there is no reason to store a vast amount of info on your phone anymore.
The real reason is definitely not that. Manufacturers want to get as much $ as they can from the folks who can afford higher end phones. That's why you see iPhone (even Pro), Samsung S series and Pixel (including Pro) launch with 128GB of storage. Let's not pretend like users don't need anything over 128GB of local storage.

Umm, ok. I guess some people need to have 17,000 hours of music saved to their phone, paired with 24,000 photos.
It's just not necessary by any means for the majority of people, especially because we are talking about the google ecosystem. Photos.google and music.youtube have made large hard drives obsolete. There isn't a need for them at all. Why would a phone manufacturer put in added costs that many don't even need?
You're making a claim that new cars should have a cassette deck, and they only discontinued them because they are cheap.

Obviously it's the 4k video files. Some ppl don't want to worry about offloading them and will pay for the local storage. 128gb is fine for me, but I get it. Anyway, this is midrange so take it or leave it.
I'll never buy another Pixel specifically because of the fingerprint sensor. I can log into my phone successfully on the first try less than half of the time. My 4a5G was flawless. Never had an issue. How you let something like this out of the door then charge customers almost a grand for it is a pathetic joke.
I have 7Pro without screen protector and don't have any issues with FP reader. My wife has S22 with glass screen protector and the sensor never works. Not sure if screen protector plays a role.

Don't trade it in for that price. You have free unlimited high quality storage for any pictures and videos you upload to Google photos.
I've read that syncthing app takes care of this and my plan is to keep one of my 4a5g and 5 so I don't lose UL photos. I'm going to evaluate upgrading to 8a...once the price comes down to ~$299 or $349 on BF or sooner--by then we'll have non-sponsored reviews of fingerprint sensor, battery life, etc. if 8a isn't up to snuff I'll...wait a longer.

How long security updates and software updates for moto?
people respond like "mkbhd said" like they can't think for themselves...
the 8 is almost 8 months old and this phone is brand new. It offers the same things except it will get updates for longer and it costs less and comes in a variety of colors, but do whatever u want.

Never get your opinions from a YouTuber who goes through 100 devices a year. Their opinion is completely worthless. Only you know what you need.
It was a past promotion similar to this for Samsung S24 at discounted price.
