First real "deal" I've seen since this week's iPad announcements...

This is the way they've been doing it for over a decade. It used to be they'd offer an 8GB, and then 32GB would be the next size. Then eventually 16GB became the lowest, 32GB went away and 64GB became the 2nd tier and so on. Eventually 128GB will become the lowest option but 256GB will go away and 512GB will replace that.

It's like reverse Goldilocks. They eliminate the "just right" size that the majority of people would want so they either have to settle for the too small or pay extra for the too big.

64gb is plenty as long as you don't want to/need to store a lot of multimedia locally. Most apps that don't include a lot of multimedia assets are only 10's or 100's of mb and won't fill up 64gb very quickly. Personally, excluding multimedia stuff, I've got about 20gb used on my Gen 9 including the OS. I do have a couple of big games and photos that got downloaded so I have more space than that actually used but even with those I still have plenty of space left.

Sure. It's pretty easy to fill up if you want to store that multimedia locally but you can do lots without storing stuff locally and for many people streaming is going to mean storing very little locally.

Maybe that's why editor changed it to "select". Cambridge MA store still shows $450 but also says "sold out".

Picked up my 64GB this morning for $315 less 5% for Micro Center credit card put it under $300.

I meant the iPad Pro M2 is $799 and the M4 is $999 -- $200 difference for 256GB, OLED and M4.

If you're paying all cash out of pocket, yes. That's why I'm trying to gather trade-ins, use rewards ($270), etc., to pay as little as possible for the M4 iPad Pro. Maybe.
