Why does anyone keep making this garbage product? You pay for the electricity to cool the air, then you throw your cool air out the window, to be replaced with hot air from outside. Which needs to be cooled again. It makes the window air conditioners look positively decent (where the inside cooling and outside heat exchange are separate.)

The one thing you should worry about with hoses, is wrapping them with insulating tape or foam, to prevent the heat from the hose radiating back into your room before it makes it out the window.

TLDR: with these single hose portable AC, you cool the air in the room, then suck that cooled air to cool the condenser part of the AC then dump it back outside (also suck in warm air through all the cracks and crevices of the room). Also the loudest part of the AC, the condenser, is now inside your room.
I learned my lesson the hard way. Switched from a single hose to a window unit and it's night and day!
