BUYER BEWARE: If you happen to buy an ASUS product and you need to RMA it they will not honor it properly. Refer to Gamer Nexus/Louis Rossman about current issues with ASUS.
As another poster has said, ASUS cannot be trusted to handle product issues correctly. Their RMA process is scuffed right now.
I actually have this laptop and it runs great. I received it as a replacement for another ASUS that died. I added a 2TB drive in the second slot. I play CS2, Cyberpunk, Fallout 76, Forza ETC on this connected to a 1440p external monitor. It runs nearly as good at FHD settings as my Alienware with a 10th gen i7 and 3080 140W for a much cheaper price

One reviewer who has this gfx says its almost identical if not 1% better than a 4060.... I could not find any hard core bench marks besides god of war to really it compare it unfortunately. After hearing how bad Asus RMA has got going to wait on Asus products going forward which means I am returning my ROG Monitors back to amazon.

About 17 years ago, went through the most awful RMA claim ever with an Asus mobo. Some how, somebody elses address got on my RMA ticket, and they sent a refurbished mobo to that address.

So the end result of this video is that Asus honored their warranty and actually replaced almost everything including the unreported issues they found that the reviewer was aware existed and didn't report...

I fully agree and understand the concept that the emails are confusing and process seems intentionally pressuring and confusing.

I don't understand being upset and saying not to buy from them when the end result was they discovered all known issues the reviewer was aware of whether reported or not and repaired them all for free under warranty.

The issue seems to be with their confusing communication and repair estimates for damage or other non warranty issues they are also offering to fix.

It's 2024 and they are still using those proprietary barrel jacks for power. They need to get with the times and modernize to USB-C charging.

Yes, in the end Asus repaired everything, but how many people are going to wrap the unit that well and document the unit that well prior to shipping it?

It's a mobile, handheld unit and Asus was trying to claim a minor dent, hardly noticeable dent in a mobile gaming platform warranted a replacement of the LCD screen.

How would I connect this to two 1440P display port monitors? I have a Dell Thunderbolt 4 dock with dual display ports, but I haven't been able to figure out if the TB4 dock will work with a USB 3.2 laptop.

I'm guessing a couple of USB to display port cables would work. I'm planning on not using the laptop display.

This or a Think pad P14 for an Engineering student this fall? They suggest a discrete GPU.

I just use the thunderbolt USBC port on my Asus a14 to a hub and drive dual monitors like that. I would imagine your dell dock would work similarly

i tried to RMA an asus laptop that had a keyboard issue... they emailed me saying the display didn't work [the display was in pristine condition when i sent it in].... so basically they broke it and wanted to charge me for a new one. they sent it back with the keyboard repaired and the display had a some sort of cut across the whole display...

I'm not familiar enough with the ROG Ally design but if the LCD is attached to the case as a one piece assembly the way Asus says it is in the video then it would warrant replacing the LCD as that would be the only way to repair the cosmetic damage.

It seems like they definitely need to make clear in their initial communication that they are offering to repair the cosmetic damage in addition to the other issues found but that it is not covered under warranty and does not require repair. All they actually appear to be doing is providing a cost estimate and asking if they want the repair done or not they are just doing it in an extremely confusing way for anyone not already aware of it and familiar with their process. How well the reviewer documented everything seems completely irrelevant in the video as they never asked them to prove whether the damage was there or not and he admitted it was he just didn't notice it whereas they did... That actually indicates a pretty solid refurb team and inspection just a terrible process and communication.

Please don't buy anything from ASUS. We must force manufacturers to honor their warranty.

Googled this laptop and lots of people have issues. Looks like a good price but probably a reason
