I bought this and returned it. The screen is really bad. Too dim and not clear. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more. Definitely get something with higher res OLED screen. Makes a world of difference.
OLED screen Laptops usually start around 600+. Yes I know that's almost 400 dollars more BUT the screen's are so much clearer. Hell even you smartphone has better screen than this laptop...
This thing is very nice for the money and really flies once set up. Included zip cover was a nice touch. Except for the Reconditioned sticker on the bottom, you wouldn't even know it was used. Screen brightness is fine indoors, but definitely not eye-searing. Regarding the discussion above, we have a 65" OLED in the living room. My wife doesn't need perfect blacks and/or 1000 nits to type lesson plans. We're upgrading from a 2014 Dell so the bar is low here. Touchscreen works great. Battery life seems strong so far, but it's a mobile quad-core Ryzen, so that was a given. I knew the SSD was NVME4, but the fact it's also Western Digital is a nice surprise and bodes well for the future. The hinges are what they are with this kind of Acer. Will probably be the first failure point. Windows 11 sucks out of the box from an OEM, but you all knew that already. Debloat or install fresh. Pick your poison. The fact that machines still come with garbage like McAfee installed in 2024 is astonishing. Included BIOS was 5 versions behind, which I thought was odd in a refurb. Grabbed the latest version from support. Clean-looking BIOS. I updated chipset drivers as well direct from AMD. GLTA! Wish us all luck in a few months. Hopefully still working fine.
For those concerned with the hinges, I bought a variant of this Aspire 3 for my wife back in 2020 and the hinges appear to be the same. It has held up quite well (as far as I'm aware) and she is not exactly someone who takes great care of her electronics. It still runs great and has had zero issues.

I have the exact same Acer laptop you mentioned and the one on sale. Their hinges are similar but the old Acer looks thicker and opens wider.
So far, this Acer Aspire 3 looks pretty good. I have no problem with the screen. The speakers sucks though.
At least it's 16 GB of RAM... Worth it for everyday browsing, email and streaming. As usual screen brightness / color accuracy suffers on the low end. I agree about those hinges as a concern but for the price seems like a great deal.
Is the screen good for the price, is it good for like movies and YouTube
