Don't waste your time on this. I did last time, as woot did eventually refunded me, after a month all things considered.

I had a similar experience. I ordered it and it never arrived. It wasn't doffing getting a refund but it was a bit confusing that it said shipped and delivered but it never arrived.

As an FYI to other posters. I'm running Remote Desktop right now on Win11 Home (default load from Lenovo Legion Slim7i purchase). It works fine from android based access on phones and tablet.

as a clarification- I'm running Chrome Remote Desktop with no issues on Win11 Home.

windows 11 home can run microsoft remote desktop on the pc to allow others to control you, but you cannot use ms remote desktop to control another pc.

Microsoft Remote Desktop - Client only

I had a similar experience with this item. The product key was on the "Stuff You Bought" page on Woot.com. However, when I tried to upgrade from System > Activation, Windows 11 did not accept the key.

I'd suggest waiting to install Windows 11.

There are a lot of drivers which haven't been updated to work right with Windows 11.
Plus, Windows 11 adds a lot of features which were not well-developed at Microsoft and can cause all sorts of difficult-to-diagnose problems.

If you do install it, at the very least, create a Restore Point before doing so, and preferably (to be safer), image your entire drive - that would be a safer option to going back to what you had before installing Windows 11.

You may encounter really difficult to diagnose problems. Lots of people are reporting random, unexpected black screens where your screen is black, but your computer appears to be on.

For some, this may be a issue with the "sleep" function. What problems you encounter may depend on what chip (make and generation) you have.

Lots of people are reporting these problems. Diagnosing takes many, many hours, and some never figure out what the problem is - it may be issues with multiple things interacting problematically.

Highly recommend coordinating with friends or family and doing the office 365 sub. 100~ a year (at full price) for 6 users with a TB of space each (can't even get that much through Drive/dropbox for that price per person) and fully access to office on your PC, phone etc. Modern office is just fantastic being able to easily open files anywhere and pick them up on my phone or PC.

Woot, an Amazon company, is going to sell me a *used* key? They're going to expose themselves to all kinds of copyright violation and fraud claims from Microsoft, to make less than $20 per person? Are you sure?
Woot is a marketplace, they are not the seller of this item so they will claim 0 responsibility.
Also, this is less than $3 on most software resell sites but SD does not get a commission from those sites

Um, no.

Yes I'm also skeptical of claims that Woot would sell grey market items but it also wouldn't shock me a whole lot either

I guess the bigger debate is whether this is worth $20 Big Grin Big Grin
Quote from KrAzY3 :
It's not exactly the same situation, as glasses started coming out of China with what appeared to be legitimate markings and what have you from another Chinese manufacturer and it's got to be a lot trickier to figure out which Chinese manufacturer is legit and which isn't. There's also a bit of irony here as China is now ripping off China: "Some of these newly identified counterfeits are indistinguishable from genuine Qiwei product"

Anyway, not sure it's analogous here because China is not where legit Windows keys come from. I'd hope Amazon's understanding of English and Microsoft is sufficient to know where they are sourcing them from. Given Microsoft's stature and how litigious they are (I had listings for Microsoft products removed online and don't think I could sell any on Amazon), I seriously doubt Amazon is selling Microsoft stuff that isn't legit but I'd love to hear the basis for why people believe that since I am interested in a key that is properly sourced.

Just hard for me to figure out how Woot could be selling software that's not legitimate while Amazon itself was heavily policed in terms of selling software and I had listings removed that were legitimate but I wasn't an authorized reseller or what ever.
They are absolutely grey market keys. The price alone makes it almost a certainty. Even OEM keys that are legitimate run close to $100. There have been very few legitimate deals where the price has been significantly cheaper. If you want to take your chance, go ahead, just don't fool yourself into believing it's a legitimate key. You may also want to pay attention to the people complaining that they've previously bought it and had issues.

Is there any real value in getting Pro over Home?

From my research Pro allows editing of group policy which stops unwanted automatic updates but I don't have Pro yet to confirm

So, you are saying Amazon is selling an illegal copy of Microsoft windows 11?
You mentioned some people had issues. Are those issues actually related to the product keys?

I'm saying the product Woot is selling is not a legitimate Windows license intended for sale in this manner.

I can't say for certain where the issues people are having stem from. Feel free to read this thread for yourself. Also, keep in mind that just because a key appears to work doesn't mean that it's legitimate and will continue to work.
