I'll never pay $1k for a chair, but those StaplesMax chairs for $150 and under are crap and technology has little to do with that argument. $300 is a genuine entry price for getting something that starts to resemble quality.

Got this chair back in 2020 for around the same price when I started working from home. Absolutely love the chair and haven't had any issues with it so far.

Great chair. Comfortable for 8hrs+ when working from home. Paid roughly the same in 2021.

If you are gonna spend this much, just get a used Aeron or a Leap v2.

Where's a good place to buy used chairs?

Seems to be dead. Showing as $549.99 now. (Was still $299.99 as of late last night.)

Not comparable at all. That is garbage compared to this one.
What actually makes this chair better? Not challenging you, but just looking at the listing it certainly isn't obvious.

The adjustments mainly. But this one is proven to be comfortable for hours and hours. That one will be uncomfortable after just a couple hours, and will (most likely) not last as long.

I've had this chair for about 4 years and... I don't like it.

It's uncomfortable. Seat bottom distributes pressure in an uneven, ripples-like pattern, the front seat foam is way too hard and digs under my knees, the whole frame around seat doesn't blend smoothly with the mesh. Mesh sinks, and frame digs into your body. I'm 200lbs. It hurts to sit in it... all the time.

The back is comfortable, armrests are good and I love the headrest (mine has it).

I'd rate the seat comfort at 3/10, back - 10/10.

Sometimes I go to OD or Staples and try their chairs... can't find anything remotely comfortable, so I'm still using the 9000. They don't make those plush executive chairs anymore apparently, the ones that you sink into like into the cloud and can sit in all day without a single sore point on your body. Everything is hard, lumpy and sharply angled in new chairs.

It's not a good chair though and definitely not worth $300. If I had to do it all over again, I'd get one of those similar Staples chairs that go on sale for $100, probably same level of misery.

I also tried the Aeron, it was even worse. The seat was slightly better (different mesh pattern, smoother transition to frame) but the rest of it, back/headrest was much more uncomfortable.
You might need to try a chair with a Tempur-Pedic seat cushion.

Otherwise everything else is a thin layer of foam on a piece of wood. Or different materials of mesh.

I tried Aerons, extensively. They're not any better. In fact, they're worse, imo. It's all mindless brand hype.

I think Workpro has an infinitely better lumbar (shaped/molded lumbar not a stick to prop your back like Aeron) and back (and headrest if you get it).

Aeron has some kind of rtarded padded crossbeam for lumbar that you slide up and down. Very uncomfortable and digs into your spine hard if you want to recline. Some exceptionally braindead design.

I sit semi reclined (gangsta lean) in the Workpro. It's back is comfortable at any angle. I'm lumbar-demanding and get easily uncomfortable if it's not perfect, but Workpro has a perfect lumbar and not once in 4 years I had a sore back.

Just my bum and hips/knees because of shtty seat cushion design.

I haven't tried the Leap v2, but have used the Aeron at my previous company. I prefer this by far. The seat lip doesn't dig into the bottom of my thighs/leg like the Aeron did and fits me much better. I tried two sizes of the Aeron.

Soooo many people keep saying to get a used one like it's the easiest and most obvious thing in the world — that they're readily available from a fire sale from all the many companies closing down, it's laughable. I got my Workpro in 2020 and it's still running strong.

The Workpro (new) has a 10/12 year warranty. Buying a used Aeron or Leap might mean your warranty is over by the time you get it.

I've tried hard to convince some coworkers to get them over gaming chairs. 1 or 2 years in and one of their Secret Labs already had an issue and needed to be serviced. It just shouldn't happen. Another one bought one for $600 from a different brand. I just keep holding my tongue. I've tried to tell them...

I see no effect to my clothes and I no longer get hot sitting in my all mesh chair. It offers me the most comfort in a computer chair that I can sit in all day.

"plastic microparticles" ya ok lol, I am not worried about my chair using mesh fabric.
I get layers of clothing dust buildup beneath the mesh bottom and on the plastic pieces beneath the mesh back on both mesh chairs I've had.

Crandall office is pretty good. If you go on reddit there is a group for office charis with a few stores.

It will definitely vary by person. I did not like the Aeron but Leap v2 was great.

Aerons are def. hit or miss. Some love them, some hate them. I preferred the leap v2. The thing is though, even if it breaks, parts are readily available online. Not saying this is a bad chair, but after owning many staples chairs (and they are not cheap now) I decided to go this route. So far so good.

Yep, me too, dust. No clothing fibers or worn clothing with holes or thin spots.
