This is the deal with one 4.0Ah battery (not two 2.0Ah batteries).
This is the older model: it doesn't have the led light nor is it self propelled (which is why I think this is a better deal).
The link for the $220-$240 4.0Ah battery on Amazon is here[amazon.com].

I have the kobalt branded one. I love it and don't need ear protection.
I have replaced every gas tool with 80v. It's crazy how "clean" they are. I'll never understand why this or the snowblower would have a head light though ๐
It really depends on how long the grass is. In the growing season like now, if I mow once every two weeks, it can easily eat up 6ah. My lawn is about 5k-6k sqft also.
One complaint that I have is that if I didn't empty the bag often, so much of the mulch will fall off on the lawn in chunks. I have to run over the whole lawn one more time to vacuum
Get a second battery or lower your expectations. I've had to charge after cutting the front b4 doing the back b4 I got more batteries.

I have the self-propelled version and it's very good.
My only complaint are the handles aren't as nice as the newer (much more expensive) models.
As much as I would like handles the collapse easier and/or appear to be sturdier, it's not worth the additional cost for me.
Even though I have the self-propelled model, I don't use that additional feature, I find the mower to be plenty light with low enough resistance.
The push mower version with the newer handles is only $100 more direct from Greenworks: Link[greenworkstools.com]
I mean yes, $100 is still $100 I suppose but the upgraded handle is SO nice to have - it folds up effortlessly and I just lean it up, saving a ton of space without having to fiddle with the knobs and such. The one I linked also has dual battery bays with automatic switch-over so for those who have a bigger lawn or have an issue with battery life just toss two in there so you don't have to make the trek back to your garage or house for another battery (although I guess you can also carry an extra battery with you somehow). The part that makes the biggest difference for me is that the newer version also has a turbo button that you can use to lock the mower at a higher speed. I mulch my grass and leave it where it is to feed back into the soil so I basically run on turbo 100% of the time. For something you're going to use all the time I think it's easily worth the extra money.
Anyone tried to return this? Any problem with Amazon. The price seems reasonable but some of the 1 star reviews have me worried.
I look at the reviews for ONLY this particular mower. There's reviews for 4 mowers which are all mixed together. There's a pull down menu[postimg.cc] where you can select to view reviews for only this mower.
Remember folks that if your situation was similar to mine you're saving $75 per year. Likely more if you factor in trips to the gas station to fill your gas can. Batteries are guaranteed for 4 years and likely will last for at least 7. So 7 x $75 = $525. You can easily replace the batteries for well under $525 and frankly the mower at that point and still be either cost neutral or have some savings. These are solid state electric appliances and should easily last 10+ years. I have cordless drills that old.
Plus:
- no trips to the gas station to fill a 5 gallon can
- easy storage, fold away with no gas to spill out
- much quieter mowing
- ability to mow after sunset or before sunrise
- no oil or spark plug changes
- no more inhaling exhaust
- much lighter than a gas mower
I have had this for 7 years. No complaints at all. I live on about 0.4 acre. Have had the same three 80v batteries in that time. If the grass is longer like now I have to change the battery 2x per cut, however when the grass is not to bad I change it 1x per cut.
I am tempted to go this route, but I absolutely hate mowing and I have terrible allergies. But my 1/2 acre yard service prices keep going up and up.... started at $35 pew mow and now it's 55 after several years. I used to justify this when they would come out with a squad of guys and attack it all at once and be done in like 10-15 minutes. Now it's just 1 dude and it takes him over an hour sometimes depending on what he's doing. My neighbor has some version of Greenworks mower (I assume, it's green and battery) and I can't even hear him.
Probably when it's retirement time and we have to crunch the budget down. Not there yet.
Just got mine from Amazon. The bag is white with white wheels and not what I was expecting. The photos on amazon and here representing this product are totally different. Legitimate reason to return.
I'm more concerned about how old this model is. Strange thing is, outside of the Amazon / Greenworks product photos & videos, I cannot find one photo or video showing this Gen 1 (thin black handlebars) PUSH 80v 4ah mower with a green deck and black bag. Deceiving product photos by Amazon/Greenworks.

Yeah, if you see the customer photos in the review section, you can see that they're different than the product photos as well but they should all be from the same generation.

Exactly. I was disappointed at first, but I think I'll keep it. I still haven't found one customer photo/video anywhere on the internet of the black bag, green deck mower (Gen 1) shown in the Amazon product photos. The Walmart one in this deal has the correct photo. Thanks!
EDIT: I have a hunch that the black bag, green deck mower (shown in the Amazon product photos[amazon.com]) may be only available on Greenworks website and the retail stores get the white bag, black deck one.

I just got mine today off Amazon and it has a green deck with black bag. The non-self propelled, push version.

Does it show the one with the green deck on the outside of the box? Or the one with white wheels/ white bag? (The box is still sitting in the garage unopened.)
Just curious what the model number says on the outside of the box. Not the SKU 2501202 but the other number right near it that starts with a letter.
FINALLY had a chance to open the box. Wouldn't you know it.. USED PRODUCT. Scuffs and marks marks all over the top and scuffs on the battery charger from the battery sliding in, packing ripped and cord unwound, and it looks like someone was eating fried chicken and didn't wash their hands before they RE-packaged it. (Greenworks BBB rating is an F.) Can't say I wasn't warned. And white grass catcher unlike the pictures- false advertising. Going back.
AND....Amazon says it may take as much as 30 days to receive a refund and then it may take an additional 7 days for it to clear. WTF. Same with receiving an Amazon Credit instead- 30 days.

That is Amazon's fault. Amazon resells used or refurbished items as new. They have been doing it for years. Discounted items are usually a giveaway.

Thanks. I got the refund fairly quickly even thought they say it can take up to 30 days. Sometimes I think I'm picked-out to get used items based on my sir-name. Anyway, I was given a used Ryobi mower that will do the trick for at least this season.
To add: I recently read that Amazon DOES sell used and returned items as new. I read they resell 1% of their returns but I think it's a LOT higher.
