Great grinder. Top rated for a reason. I own one. Best coffee investment I've made.

Note that this is not the newer Encore ESP that can better dial in an espresso grind

Will this grind coffee without leaving small grounds all over my counter when I go to transfer them to the coffee maker?

It still leaves a lot of small ground for my case.

Another drawbacks: it is very loud.

But I still like it though

What do you think are the chances of this happening? I was recommended to try the Encore by a friend recently when I mentioned was starting to look for a real grinder. But if the new(er) one has a chance to go on sale, I'd be willing to wait.

I prefer my virtuoso+ a little bit more than the encore I bought in terms of output (I had better results with my aeropress and chemex) but I like the on off switch more than dealing with timers so I think the encore is worth buying unless you're into espresso. I also did the burr upgrade which shouldve made the 2 machines the same but (shrug) that wasn't my experience but ymmv.

The encore also has an issue where grinds "get all over" and I haven't found a solution. I bought a single dose hopper to replace the regular one and it has a siphon which reduces retention but didn't help much with the "all over" problem

The easy solution to the grinds problem is to get a drop or two of water on your finger and run your finger through the beans in the hopper before you grind. I've done so since purchasing mine 5 years ago and have never had a problem since.

This grinder excels at grind levels for drip/pour over/press, and particularly with medium and lighter roasts. If espresso is your thing, you'll want a more capable grinder than the Encore series.

I upgraded my OG Encore with the M2 burrset, effectively giving me a Virtuoso...speed of grind was the first major upgrade, reduction in static was the second, so it's not surprising what you see with your V+.

The 'craft' term for this is 'RDT', which stands for Ross Droplet Technique...essentially using any means to gently wet beans before grinding to reduce static. Some use a wet finger, some a small spritzer, etc. Too wet and you'll foul your grinder.

I bought a silicone mat with raised edges. It keeps them contained to the "coffee zone" on the counter and wipes really nicely with a damp paper towel.

You need to catch up, there is a new version, the Encore ESP that is made for espresso.
