FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. If you don't reset device as instructed this may hurt the trade-in value. There is also no way to get your trade-in back if the 3rd party lowballs your trade-in.
I made this mistake with the recent iPad trade-in deal. I missed a reset step, and had messed up something on the trade-in form. In the end, I got $4 for my trade-in and couldn't get my device back…
TLDR; read, and follow instructions.
You probably missed it, but you can indeed get your device back if they lowball your offer.

My wife's Samsung S22 Ultra battery deteriorated, but more than 7 Pro and iPhone 14.
I am guessing these phone companies deliberately make some critical parts like batteries and a few other components deteriorate faster than others so that people keep upgrading to the latest phones.
In every other threat, I read more comments about the reason for replacing the phone batteries than other reasons, which proves my theory.

Phone needs to be unlocked. I was planning to trade in my locked mint mobile pixel 7pro. So it looks like the phone needs to be unlocked by the carrier.
The Initial Trade-In Quote is an estimate only, and that the Trade-In Credit You receive, if any, will be based only on the Final Trade-In Quote determined by Hyla. For example, if after inspection, Your Device is not in the condition You represented on the Website, or Your Device is not one of the Devices accepted by the Trade-In Program, the Final Trade-In Quote may be minimal or zero.
The Initial Trade-In Quote expires at the end of the Trade-In Period. If Your Device is not shipped to and received by Hyla within the Trade-In Period, only the Final Trade-In Quote will be effective.
Google and Hyla are not responsible for data loss, data recovery, or any related damages under this Trade-In Program. It is Your responsibility to remove all personal data from Your Device before shipping it to Hyla. In addition, You must do the following:
Factory-reset Your Device, unlock Your Device (including removing Your Device from any services that prevent it from being activated), and remove all SIM and memory cards from Your Device;
Disconnect Your Device from Your existing wireless service plan; and
Ship Your Device to Hyla using the shipping materials and guidelines that Hyla provides. Google and Hyla will not be liable for any loss or damage to Your Device while in transit.
