Geeesh...if this is how they are going to treat me now that I'm on the team......hmmmph.
OK here's the scoop...are you paying attention?
I had a nice long phone interview with Bryantq back in Nov. and last week they flew me in to Vegas for the face-to-face interview.
The night before last, Bryantq informed me that I did indeed get the job.
I will be starting as the CRM of slickdeals on January 11th (barring any travel delays). They have informed me that they want to start me off as a Moderator while I'm still here in MI wrapping things up and prepping to move so that I can see what things are like behind the scenes.
*The Wizard is letting me see behind the curtain.
I have the next 2 weeks off work due to the holidays and then Jan.4th I will go back to my driving job for my last day. On Jan 5th, Bea and I will get in my car and start the 2100 mile drive to Las Vegas.
I think I know what Dorthy felt like on her trip to Oz.
I am extremely excited about this opportunity and a tad...scared as hell!
I only have about 1015 things to do in the next 2 weeks.
Ummm since I can't even sticky my own announcement...that I had to make for myself...this feels a bit anticlimactic.

say goodbye to free time in the lounge...
Oh and the place they sent me to for my interview...middle of the desert...no building...
Instead of the standard bus layout, replace each seat with a "pod". In place of the center aisle is a mount for said pod. When you get to the stop in the evening, the driver just punches a button on the dash and the pod is fired out onto the kid's lawn. In the morning, a recall system sucks the pod back onto the bus. No student interaction, no bus fights.
This sounds like a wonderful opportunity for you (and Bea). And you never have to shovel snow again! I'm really happy for you.
A tip for your move: Really think hard about the stuff you want to move. It may be cheaper to buy a lot of new stuff in Vegas when you get there. Uh, unless you plan on driving a moving truck full of stuff out there, in which case I'd say you are
It's great to see SD hiring someone that's not a total asshat.
Are you going to be responsible for rolling out SlickCash?

And thanks.
Actually, I had considered renting a larger Uhaul and towing my car...but hell that's expensive in itself.

Cue victory dance!
Cue Schoob handing out free passes to the mod lounge!
I don't even live in Vegas, but those are the things I went through on my many trips there
Watch us all gain 50lbs in 6months.

I am such a minimalist. And thank God for it because I am married to a pack-rat.

So what I did was went to UHaul and got a quote, then took it to Ryder and got them to undercut it... then took Ryder's quote back to UHaul. I'm sure you can see where this is going.
I ended up getting my truck & auto transport for less than half the original quote. YMMV of course.
Just something to think about. Best of luck to ya.
