Good that the SMART data isn't nuked. So I would know what I am getting.
I assume these come nicely packed (snug as a bug in a rug) that I have read in comments for other deals from GoHardDrive?

The ones I got were fairly well bubble wrapped, but you def wanna run a full read/write test on them before putting them in use all the same.
Of the 3 that work, SMART data is all intact with power-on hours of 27870, 39022, and 36272. The long SMART test took about 24 hours to complete and they are now going through badblocks tests (guessing about 5 days for `badblocks -b 4096 -wsv`).

I got the WUH721414ALE604 and not 600.
Drive reads fine in my Sabrent external closure.
Looks good!

Plus HGST Drive Fitness Test For Windows SMART Short and SMART Extended Tests.
On the aforementioned 18TB easyStores, the Chkdsk took about 16 days.
Used Auto Screen Capture to take snapshots of the WinDFT windows.
The SMART Short Test took about 15 minutes and the SMART Extended Test took about 13 days.
And CrystalDiskInfo before/after the tests, screenshotting/saving the windows.
(I have to remember to shut off stupid Windows Update before I start the long tests. I so absolutely despise, detest, loathe forced reboots after updates!!!)
I am aware of Hard Disk Sentinel. But $33 per machine. However I just noticed a 5 machine Family license (lifetime) for $59. Hmmmm. Also there is Smartmontools.
(I "accidentally" shucked an easyStore 14TB about five years ago. Fortunately the power was off. SMART data is clean, but there is no G-Sense Error Rate type SMART attribute shown in CrystalDiskInfo as there is for a Seagate hard drive. Plus I have had some older Hitachi and HGST drives start to show reallocated sectors. Took them out of service after robocopying the data. So it might be prudent to constantly monitor my other old hard drives.)
I mean look you've already been recommended an uncooled Amazon enclosure not fit for a server drive on here.
Heres one with a fan costs plenty more

I've got this Sabrent enclosure. I have not modified it yet (remove fan grills and elevated foot pegs) but is sufficient so far. I also accidentally flashed the firmware without hard drive removed and it reversed the fan function. Emailed Sabrent support and they provided step by step instructions on reflashing the firmware with custom Sabrent firmware that fix the fan issue so support was good at least in my experience (contrary to the Amazon reviews)

Basically what I posted before.
Either way for someone who doesn't know anything at all the easiest solution are the enclosures with doors, which I also have, but its costly, but it does at least stack. Not cost effective either which is why I told them just to get a normal usb drive.
I just removed the cover on the sabrent because its silly.
