that is because adorama is an SD sponsor so they "promote" / advertise on here for free and they constantly get front page status. make sure you factor that into your decision.

i have personally seen a lot of amp failures with their previous models. time will tell if they have made improvements in that area.

2 years on the electronics and 5 years on the driver

while the spec says 18Hz that is very misleading because there is no +/- range. in real world usage expect down to about 25Hz (+/- 3dB - typical range for "flat" response). the difference between 18 and 25Hz is significant.

RSL subs are a bit different. they use a compression guide tuning to reduce port noise and improve low end performance. their products can easily outperform subs with larger drivers.

they produce equipment in batches based on demand to keep costs down (no expensive inventory to house). from time to time they will be on backorder but usually within a month they are back in stock. keep an eye out as they also run group buy programs so you can save even more.

bang for the buck RSL subs are hard to beat.

I have and very much enjoy this sub but just fyi my amp died like people are saying. Replacement was insanely easy (they send you a new board) but 2 years on warranty for the amp is risky. Great price tho.

How does this compare to SVS and monolith of same size?
I had Klipsch, svs and monolith. Klipsch is loud. Svs sounds pure. I sold both and still love my monolith. I will say the svs is extremely light. The monolith is ridiculous heavy. Monolith fits my preference in sound. Hits low and heavy. Not washed out bass. I have to admit this price is a real good deal.

How much did it cost? (The replacement)

Who is comparing subs using in-room measurements? No one.

You've clearly missed my entire point, so I'll try to state it as simply as possible: anechoic measurements are not indicative of typical "real world" extension because rooms have walls.
Okay, so you don't like standardized measurements OR anecdotal experience. Go drink some water.

No, you can't. People trying to compare this to an SVS 1000 or an RSL Speedwoofer 10s have no idea what they're talking about.

This can be an amazing value sub if you don't run into plate amp issues. Unfortunately, they do seem to plague this model and are the reason that most people recommend sticking with the new rp line for Klipsch subs. At this price point, it may be worth the risk for some.
I got a pair of speed woofer 10e to replace a pair of dayton sub-1500 and can confirm it was an upgrade.

Theres more to subwoofer performance than the size of the woofer, amplifier wattage, and lowest frequency output (despite these being the most advertised metrics). Other factors such as cabinet bracing, cabinet weight, backwave management, and the quality of the driver make significant and measurable differences between subs.

Compared to the speedwoofer 10e/10sii, spl150 gain around 7hz more extension (thats quite a bit) but I would wager the transients are much slower since the single magnet in the spl150 driver is severely underspeced compared to the double magnet driver in the speedwoofers despite the 150 having to push a MUCH MUCH bigger/heavier cone. Slow transients are a big reason why some subwoofers are hard to integrate into speaker systems and why some subs sound like a separate speaker instead of an extension of your mains (besides phase issues). This coupled with an inferior cabinet design due to less bracing and a simpler port layout (resulting in more cabinet resonances) makes it understandable why the spl-150 is in a similar price bracket as a speedwoofer 10sii.

If you are purchasing mainly for a home theater system these shortcomings are forgivable as you don't really need fast transients to enjoy that <20hz rumble from a movie explosion. Some genres of music could also benefit if the bass is mostly slow and low waves like 808s.

However, if your music of choice has primarily percussive bass like bass guitars, drums, or a faster synth bass like in some pop/edm tracks you will hear the cabinet continuing to resonate from the last note as the woofer plays the next causing a loss in clarity. You might find yourself turning the gain down or even turning off the sub if your mains are capable enough

This is a fantastic value for home theater, but will 'just suffice' for music. If you need both extension and finesse it's worth to spend a bit more into a rp-1400(on sale) or speedwoofer 12s.

The amps are absolute TRASH on these!!! Why do you think there is only a 2 year warranty on them? I know two people who had amps blow on these and only one went prior to the warranty, the other went 6 months after. If you don't mind paying close to $500 for this as a paper weight at some point around 2 years then go for it but your much better off with the new RP line which actually are very good subs with good amps and a full 5 year warranty & when one sale the 14" & 16" are a steal! Of course, it's your dime, so do what you want but you have been warned about the amp on these.

You might want to go grab a coffee and re-read what I actually wrote buddy. I literally used standardized measurements to compare this to a different sub and linked to two different SPL graphs for anecdotal evidence as to how this would actually perform in a HT.

*edit*
screw it, bought 2, I'll figure out the rest later lol.
Now you need a pair of 18s.

This is a great answer, and good explanation on why one should consider more expensive subs. I can say that after a Dirac Live Bass Correction here, my SPL-120's sounded very bad / inferior, and I don't suggest cheap subs like these SPL-120's with DLBC but it works great with standard auddsey.

They aren't cheap. They are just marked down cheap.
There is a difference.

I have had high dollar subs and low dollar subs. The high dollar subs aren't always what they are cracked up to be.
SVS provides tremendous service though! That's for sure.

Is that sarcasm?

There's no way the entry level SVS 1000 can even compare to this, much less the new line of RP subs including the 14 inch for $700. SVS isn't the bargain that it used to be in the days of the $425 PB-12NSD.
I have SVS 1000 pro and it's one of its best available in market. I validated that with Best Buy sound expert and he was also on same lines that SVS is best in market and SVS 1000 pro for $599 is best you can get in the budget.
He clearly mentioned that other brands such as K… is not that of high quality.

Trust the pimple faced kid making min wage living in his mom's basement for audio advice. Lol

It's not that they aren't high quality. It's a diff market.
Why do you Think SVS has a constant and consistent flow of open box items? Same reason why every Best Buy is riddled with open box Samsung TV's.
People think they want them until they have themWink

I also didn't realize the updated RP-1400SW is down to $700. Highly debating canceling the SPL-150's for the RP-1400SW looks like they worked a lot on the chuffing [youtube.com] issue with ported subs. I've experienced this a few times on one of my SPL-120's and was really concerned as well.

https://slickdeals.net/f/17073199-14-klipsch-reference-premiere-rp-1400sw-subwoofer-699-free-shipping

SPL-150's for $450 or RP-1400SW for $700?

Orders on Adorama aren't shipping until Friday.

Get the best subwoofer your budget allows. It's a lot easier and less expensive vs skimping and then possibly having to sell and upgrade down the road.
