Curious to know how many accounts on this site are fake just to generate hype..

that is because adorama is an SD sponsor so they "promote" / advertise on here for free and they constantly get front page status. make sure you factor that into your decision.

i have personally seen a lot of amp failures with their previous models. time will tell if they have made improvements in that area.

2 years on the electronics and 5 years on the driver

while the spec says 18Hz that is very misleading because there is no +/- range. in real world usage expect down to about 25Hz (+/- 3dB - typical range for "flat" response). the difference between 18 and 25Hz is significant.

RSL subs are a bit different. they use a compression guide tuning to reduce port noise and improve low end performance. their products can easily outperform subs with larger drivers.

they produce equipment in batches based on demand to keep costs down (no expensive inventory to house). from time to time they will be on backorder but usually within a month they are back in stock. keep an eye out as they also run group buy programs so you can save even more.

bang for the buck RSL subs are hard to beat.

I have and very much enjoy this sub but just fyi my amp died like people are saying. Replacement was insanely easy (they send you a new board) but 2 years on warranty for the amp is risky. Great price tho.

This is one of those things where the deal is good but then you realized you should have spent more for a sub that digs down into the 18hz

You can personally hear the difference when a sub hits 18hz vs 20hz?
Or the fact one may hit 110db at 20hz and 100db at 18hz vs one that can do 110bd at 18 hz?

Serious question as I often wonder if my ears are broke. They are not quite as finely tuned as a calibration mic. I only ever know the difference if I set a mic up and just watch rew measurements all day long

As someone who has had this sub and currently owns the rp-1400sw... if you can save a little more cash and wait for the $699 sale for the rp-1400sw... its definitely worth the upgrade over this one.

iContango, since you have both, can you describe the difference in sound between them? I'm really wondering how different they are!

You can always look at people's post history and decide for yourself.

I have the RP-1600SW and I'm seriously thinking about grabbing this to pair with it. Like others have said, there's seriously nothing close to it at this price.
Do not do that. Unless you can put a bandpass filter on the smaller sub you will wreck your low end. Subs have to be Exactly the same, Woofers and enclosures. Otherwise their differences will cause peaks At certain frequencies and cancellations at others.

F'it…. I can't pass this one up. With 6 months no interest too with PayPal, it's just too good to pass up.
I may even kick myself for not getting a second!

Curious why everyone here seems to like Klipsch but if you go to reddit everyone seems to hate Klipsch. I was going to go with Klipsch system but got talked into a focal system. Hopefully they sound great.

They're a good price/performance ratio while folks on reddit might be more tuned to spend 50% more for 10-20% better etc.

You are going to love your Focals!
Klipsch has always been renowned and a big name, but some that was tarnished when the reference line got demoted to BestBuy
Some people despise horns and prefer dome tweeters.
Honestly, I have considered retiring
My old Reference ii lineup for B&W, but I've had them soooooooo long and am attached to them
One day after I have acquired all the things life can possible give, I will have a high end set of B&W. Audio just has not been my highest desire in life, but I am almost at that point I have nothing left to buy that I don't already have

as indicated in that article it is flat (+/-3dB) from 23Hz to 90Hz.. a bit off from the published spec of 18Hz which shows about -15dB as the response drops off quickly below 23Hz.
I was thinking 18Hz 15" sub at this price was way too good to be true when I first saw this. And with amp issues? It would be very frustrating to spend $449 and have the amp go belly up prematurely.

I wonder how many of these failures the owners have the gains maxxed and running them into clipping constantly.

Hi, i'll mainly use the sub for movies. Would you say there will be noticable difference between the 2 subs. Thank you for the info in advance.

If you have to ask, likely not.
I have run big/small/single/multiple/cheaper/more expensive/diy/overkill, and really unless you have a super fine tuned ear or placebo affect, within reason you won't be able to tell the difference in most subs within reason.

There is going to be a big difference between the SPL-150 and the RP-1400 for movies because the RP-1400 has more output and carries its power below 20hz.
