Amazon should be ashamed of themselves. This is like regular price, nothing special about it. They used to do better deals around Prime Day. What a bust.

Here are some use case scenarios for a streaming device.

The Hisense h9g used faulty memory that caused the main board to fail if too many writes occured. The best way to prevent this was to disable the internet, not use on board apps and use a streaming device.

For the Samsung s90b, the company apparently sent out firmware updates that lowered the brightness of the TV. So to prevent an update for those who did not receive it, you would keep the TV off the internet, unable to use onboard apps, so you need a third party device.

I have an s90c that I do not want nerfed, so I use a fire stick on it and others on avs forums do the same with other streaming devices. I also have 2 h9gs that I keep off the internet.

I use a streaming device on my ust projector, the on board apps are laggy compared to a streaming device.

Another use case is that Samsung store does not have a larger app library compared to Google or the TV is not able to run certain apps.

I use an onn streaming box on one of my TV's that has Google TV on it. I can run emulators up to Dreamcast with the onn box, my TV is not able to do that.

Sticks work ok, nothing blazing fast. But my Cube(previous Gen) keeps on a chugging.

I'm getting a Max to replace my OG Cube. That thing moves slower than my grandma and she's been dead for 20 years.

get the max.

you want the extra memory so it can run smoothly down the line.

i've gotten the regular basic ones and after a couple of years, some apps just take forever to load and randomly crashes.

I used to think all Amazon Fire Sticks were more or less the same, which is why I didn't upgrade for a while. However, once we started using the Fire Stick 4K Max, we immediately noticed significant improvements: movies look better with smoother playback, load times are much faster, and there's better connectivity with fewer buffering issues.
Gracias. I just ordered a 4K non-Max, I noticed Amazon says the Max has a 2.0GHz quad core, the 4K has a 1.7GHz quad core, and the 1080p model (which I'm currently using) doesn't say anything so probably a dual core.

The 4k stick we have seems slow to load apps. Connection when watching is fine. Might try the max if the performance and responsiveness is that much better.

Just go on ali express and order a few, I have a back up remote on every single one of our fire sticks. I also got silicone covers for each of them to color code them (we have 5 fire sticks and 10 remotes in 5 colors)

I don't have any of the new generation except maybe the regular stick. It is super super slow, right out of the box. I think I got it last March/April. We never use it because it is that much slower than the 4k max (previous gen) and our second Gen cube.

Did anyone else have this experience with the regular stick or lite sticks? Brand new and slow as heck?

I been using a few of the 4k max since it was released a year ago. Only issue is, do not loose the original power cable when you hook up an Ethernet adaptor to it. It supplies 5.5 volts as all other supply 5 volts. This will put you in a boot loop, The fire stick will keep restarting over and over. I also have an older fire tv that must be over 10 years old. Never had a cube, are they any good? Might have to try that out next. Hoping there will be a better deal on prime day.
The cube gives you convenience of combining an echo and Fire TV. So hands free use of the TV. In the living room it's okay. In the bedroom TV it's great if you are tired and you just say "ALEXA TV Off" or "Alexa, tune to ABC". In the living room it's use case is if you are carrying a baby or holding food you can say "Alexa, play Cobra Kai on Netflix" or say "Alexa, turn down volume" in addition to the usual smart home things like "Alexa, dim the lights" or "Alexa, show driveway" or "ALexa, show nursery" (for security cameras).

Don't get those base sticks. Get 4K or better. The interface is faster and apps open faster.
The real test was Paramount Plus. It would crash or wouldn't run at all on non-4k sticks and 1st Gen Cubes. The price difference for the 4K isn't that bad during these sales and will save you a lot of time.

It's 2024 everyone should have a smart tv....I'm surprised these are still for sale
Not everybody likes the built-in OS on TVs. Some of us still run Fire TV Recast for Over-The-AIR TV/DVR and that requires a fire TV OS.

I'm tempted to get a Samsung as my next TV only for the 24/7 Conan O'brien channel Smilie
Of course a fireTV OS device would be on HDMI 1.

Clutch! It's been 2 days and I still have yet to find my remote. I didn't know it was possible to use a different remote. Is the process for pairing different?

The cube and the max have the same amount of memory?!?! That's ridiculous.

Have you tried the fire TV app? I think there is a built in remote feature with that. You may need to use that to get into the settings on the device to pair an additional remote. You go to settings then I think it's Bluetooth and remotes or something then just follow the directions (like push home button and follow on screen prompts)

I have bought several knockoff firestick remotes on ali express for like a few bucks each. They have so many options, just find a choice item (free shipping on $10) and spend $10 on a variety of remotes, silicone covers for the remotes, charging cables, whatever you need. I prefer ali express for stuff like that cause it's usually 1/2 or 1/3 the price for the same off brand stuff they sell on Amazon if you can wait 8-11 days....

I thought my 3 year old threw our one remote in the trash or something it was missing for so long but we found it a month later in a toy bin. That's why we have two remotes for everything now lol
