Even postpaid they just run credit with ssn. Afik they don't go through some 3rd party that does this kind of big brother ID service that does who knows what with all that data.
Why is it ok to go through that kind of data harvesting?
Why is this ok for prepaid, where it's generally fine to just give them your name, address, and pay via card (Visa already knows who you are)?
This is shady. Period. Why anyone's ok with that, I don't understand.
Not slick to do that part just for a cheap phone. I'd rather not do that, personally, but whoever goes for it, you do you.
