Do I want the Acer PRedator (refurb) 4080 or this badboy for random travel trips ... the 16inch is kinda tight for a backpack :/

EDIT: JK this has soldered RAM, I refuse to support that bs

Picked up a good condition from BB. The body and screen seems immaculate (did deal pixel test as shown).

A few notices:
  1. why ASUS uses its proprietary adapter/charger if the laptop already provides a USB-C port for power delivery, to save one USB-C port?
  2. when connected to charger, the fan seems a little bit crazy. I can hear the noise... If running in battery, the fan noise is reduced. Is this a common problem for AMD CPU? How to adjust fan noise if I am not playing games.
  3. The sound quality shocks me, with such a small/light-weight body. means, I don't have to wear headphone watching movies, or listening to music...
What USB-C charger can provide enough power for a gaming laptop?

Just got mine Monday. I got the Excellent Open Box deal + tax for a total of $1,032.19, and tempted to swap it for this deal lol

But the thing is, my open box was issue free (except for a tiny 1mm smudge on the outer bottom left of the lid). Plus I just finished setting it up yesterday after a clean installation. Debating if the hassle is worth it.

Gotta say though, this is an amazing laptop. I came from a Zenbook Flip 13, and I am enjoying the upgrade to this beautiful 14" screen size.

It might be just me, but i initially noticed some stuttering which I believed might be due to it switching to Optimus. I changed the graphics settings and assigned the graphics to Nvidia, which resolved the infrequent stutters. Now the streams and videos run so smooth and the blacks are so well defined. I haven't had the time to game on it yet, and hoping to game this weekend if possible.

Everything is running great and fast on this 16GB RAM 4060 G14, and so very pleased with my purchase. Although, if I had the extra cash (and have a current need for a more powerful laptop), I would snag the 32GB version in a heartbeat. If it's this great at 16GB, the 32GB and 4070 would be awesome for future proof. So far, I don't have the need and can't justify the 32GB 4070 price tag, yet.
Be careful not to wipe your calibrated color profile if you reinstall.

To actually game or to just surf the web while getting a slow charge? If it's the latter, I've been using a 65W anker with my gaming laptops that support PD and it's been a non-issue. If it's gaming, it really depends on the laptop cpu/gpu. Something like this particular G14 is going to take more than 100W (that's the highest power from a USB-C unless I'm mistaken).

I'd jump on this, but Asus laptops purchased at Best Buy have to be serviced by Geek Squad. Yes, even warranty work.

Are these easy to use? I can only figure out the basics
CapCut is easy. They also have mobile app and you can use it in browser if you don't want to download anything.

Sweet deal, I don't see the black one on Best Buy's site, would prefer the black.

According to some Reddit discussions, ASUS won't warrant secondhand users.
So looks like BB sold these open-box machines as-is.
Thank you for the info! Looks like I need to go to BB tomorrow.

Good to know. I did reinstall all the recommended and critical Asus programs along with Ghelper, and so far I think I do not have any color deficiencies. Streaming on it now and it's amazing. I'll dig a bit more on the default color calibration settings and see if it reinstalled or if the quality can get even better than it is now.

I recently bought the 2023 G14 4060 model for $50 more than this one and tomorrow is my last day to be able to return it. I would love to have the OLED screen, but I really like the RAM upgradability and the design of the 2023 model though. What should I do? Should I return it and get this one?

I think that is an advantage, given how notoriously bad Asus support is.

I know this probably won't last, but my state is tax free on laptops the weekend of July 26th. Hard to resist...
I'm in the same boat. I told myself I wouldn't buy this until it was 1k or less but we have almost 10% tax here so if I can get it tax free in a couple of weeks at this $1,100 price it would be all the same to me. Worst case I just wait until November for it to drop even further which isn't bad for me because I dont really need it right now.

Do any of these deals ever have a higher SSD drive such as 2 or 4tb. Would grab it if I could find one.

I wonder if the open box price will eventually drop over the weekend due to this sale

Interesting Asus calls this 2880 x 1800 screen 3k and Lenovo calls 2.8k.

Thanks OP, repped!
